Yes. Nobody should earn millions of dollars for any type of work performed.
Why? What if I cap oil well fires for a living and am killed in the line of duty and my insurance pays off at $2 million?

You make only $15/hour for hard, brutal work? What a shame.

But it's 100% okay for NBA stars to make millions by throwing a ball through a hoop!

And pretty girls and boys on TeeVee make millions too by reciting some lines somebody else wrote.

Enjoy flipping burgers, Worker, the revolution will soon be upon all of us.
If you want to earn more than $15 per hour, don't get a degree in the social sciences.

You know the only difference between greed and jealousy? Greed is when you covet what you have. Jealousy is when you covet what you don't have. For every greedy capitalist there is a jealous socialist -- morally speaking there ain't a dime's worth of difference between them!...
Except that the capitalist earned the money and the socialist won't even get a job half the time.

It's about the value of work.

NBA stars are grossly overpaid for what they do for society.
Evidently not -- when you consider how many people go to the games, pay for parking, tickets, concessions, merchandise, watch the game on television, sell athletic shoes, shill for video games, etc., NBA stars earn what they're supposed to earn.

I find it troubling that De Beers has the power to keep artificial gem quality diamonds off the market for their own profit.
It's called "monopoly." If they brought up all the diamonds they could dig up and put them all on the market, then sold them at the same time, they'd only be worth about 10 cents each.

It is troubling.

Government has a role in encouraging competition. Standard Oil and Bell Telephone were broken up, and I think one can argue that the society and the markets are better off for it.

Maybe Mircrosoft should have been broken up. But maybe Google and Yahoo made that unnecessary.

De Beers and OPEC manage because they are outside the US, I guess.

I would say the opposite. Would that EVERYONE earned millions of dollars.

I'm not talking about the diamonds they dig up. I'm talking about the ones scientists make in laboratories.
