Speaking as a U.S. citizen, I am ashamed that my country needs to have a law banning torture, and I am extremely ashamed that our vice president campaigned against such a law. While I applaud Congress for its huge support of this bill, I find it sickening that so much political pressure was required for our current administration to support it. Comments?

It doesn't really matter to your current administration anyway.

They can just ship torturees to other countries and do their torture there. Or get freelance soldiers of fortune to do it for them. If they get caught the u.s. military can say, "hey, nothing to do with us".

While I applaud Senator McCain for his efforts, I fear Ragnorak's scenario, after a brief pause to let this whole torture issue subside, will probably come true.
