Originally posted by der schwarze RitterI like Rush (I own quite a few of their albums) and Geddy Lee, but Jaco is simply better. Geddy could never play Jaco's parts, with or without frets. Geddy's play is good, but average; Jaco is a bass-god. Just admit that I'm right, lol.
Jaco's good but can he play bass, keyboards, Taurus pedals and sing all at the same time? The real claimant to that title is the Canadian bass superhero: Geddy Lee.
By the way: did you know Jaco was an excellent drummer too?
Originally posted by jona004I know them, I like what/how they play, but if you have listened to Pastorius, you know, I just can't think of any other (fretless) bass player that is so skilled, so fast, so original, so ........ Pastorius!
what about Flea from RHCP? Or Nick Oliveri from Queens of the stone age?

Agree with Jaco.
A close second (and winner for living bass players) is the one, the only VICTOR WOOTEN!!!
He is simply amazing.
Anyone ever heard of NOTP , he played with Joe Pass in the album Chops, which was guitar and bass. Very amazing bass player.
