Best book ever read: "Lolita" by Vladimir Nabakov- its about a pedophile 😕

Most influential book: "Nineteen Eighty-four" by George Orwell- If you have never read to bad, its too hard to explain.

Any other suggestions?

The Quran.
It is certainly in accordance with the other books so far mentioned in this thread.

Peachy, you keep trying to persuade us that the Qur'an is other than 7th century AD version of the 'Old Testament'. A still later version of this stuff was promulgated by Joseph Smith, the Mormon, in the 19th century but we don't buy it.

No they give it out for free.

The difference is that the Torah, The Bible (Old Testament) and the Quran are considered as Holy Books. Came from God. Unlike the Book of Mormon which was written and complied by Mormon, then Moroni (his son) in latter days.

I never said the Quran is a 7th century version of the Old Testament. I only ever said it was the last of the Holy Books revealed to us by God.

(influence need not be positive)

Orwell's 1984 aptly predicted the rhetorical distortions at the heart of this book

Nevil Shute "Kindling"

Not a big fiction fan, but this one resonated with me, for some reason.

Joseph Smith would not agree with you since he claims, just like Mohamed and the OT prophets, to have had a personal hot line to the Almighty who updated his message.
