I forgot to mention the downside of Louisville. If you go to east end your going to get overwhelmed by snobs. If you go to south end after you go to east end your going to be considered a snob. If you go to west end there is a slight possiblity your going to get pounded if you say anything bad about their mom. Depressing isn't it?

Everyone has mentioned nice things about the areas, i.e. Scenery, clean air. But I have to say that my favorite place is where I live now, in my native North East of England. Not pretty, but the people here are the most down to earth and friendliest people on the planet. And thats what draws me to places, not the location but the inhabitants.
The best place in the world is the street where I work.I"ve met people from all over the world-Melbourne,Bombay,New York,Amsterdam,Kabul,Rome,Paris,Dublin,Liverpool,Glasgow,Hong Kong,Kingston.....the list goes on and on and yet no matter how far they all seem to travel they keep coming back! And its only a sleepy country town-the world really is a small place.
The United States is the best here are some places to go...Hawii A great island. New York City so much to visit there. Florida well have not realy been there but I heard it's great! Minnesota it has the biggest mall in the world and there is SO MUCH to do and I mean to Do in Calliforna! All of the 50 states are great and if you are looking for a vacation may I suggest THE UNITED STATES!
Try going 200km north of the artic cirlcle to Lapland in Finland, amazing scenery, very interesting culture vastly different from the rest of Europe, the best snow I have ever boarded on, northern lights, loads of different sports and activities to try, fantastic friendly people, top vodka and reindeer steaks are superb!!! You soon get use to temps of -40 in winter..... trust me.

What is the best place to live in the world?
First, I need to live in a place where basic freedoms are in place. Right to live peacefully, right to speak out, right to live in peace, right to choose my leaders.
I need to live in a place where I am happy with my government policies. I would not like to live in a place where children are executed, or my tax dollars goes to kill foreign children for dubious causes. I want my country to do its bit for peace but in way that is respected around the world. I don't want to be an apologist for the crimes of my country.
I would like a reasonable standard of living - my own house, a car, an internet connection, an overseas holiday when I want one. I want everyone around me to be reasonably equitable - no beggars in the streets.
I like to live near the coast. I walk on the beach every day and I miss the ocean when I am away from it. A good place to swim, and to take children fishing. And the water and air must be clean.
I want a place with a vibrant social life and a good mix of cultures. I enjoy eating out, and staying in a bar until I want to come home. I want to be able to walk home, wihtout fear.
I want a place where you need neiither central heating nor air conditioning.
Open to suggestions but it sounds like I am already living where I want to be.

Unfortunately we havnt got the chance at this site to hear the billions of people who would like to live somewhere else or at least would like their current country of residence to change alot before they could post here among the others being happy with their country.
It probably goes to show that the community at RHP is more homogeneous than one should have guessed from some of the debates. Everybody is well fed, doesnt live in povetry and have basic freedom rights.
Though happy where I live, I must say that I envy Skeeter and Steerpike a litle if they never have to turn the heat on - but then I would probably miss a real winter in the end.
