Salems Lot was a winner. So was Bag of Bones.

Really like any collection of short stories though...

I also loved The Shining, much better than the film.

Of a more modern era, Cell wasnt too bad.
Cell was mediocre.

My favourite is "The Stand".
I'm not a Steven King fan, but I thought Christine was pretty good.😏

I liked Needful Things. I wasn't that keen on the film.

The Stand was the last thing I read by King, super opening, riveting for the first 200 pages, but then half way through the book I just didn't care anymore. King can keep his 1000+ page monsters.
If you haven't read the Dark Tower series, you're missing out on something epic.

Definitely, it's also one of the 5 best books ever written!

It's brilliant the way the book started with 3 people dying and from their things gradually esculate, esculate more and more...rather then just starting at the point where the character wakes up with most of the population already dead like so many films!

Have any of you read Lisey's Story or Duma Key? Both are quite tough to read, but I found them enjoyable enough. Just started Blaze today.
Blaze was an easy, if uninspiring book. I agree with Mr King's own original opinion on it, not worthy of publishing!

I guess i like The Stand, I honestly think he's a better short story writer though, try Miss Todd's Shortcut.

I'd have to go with Carrie. The writing style is original and the literary tools he uses to great effect in later novels are very much in evidence with this early book.
