Vaccinated (longer than 6 months ago) and having had corona (longer than 6 months ago) is not going to stop you getting the omicron variant.
That’s the first results of research trickling in. And that a booster shot does spike the immune system enough to counter it sufficiently.
The Dutch OMT hopes to be able to advise better on the matter coming Friday, but by mid January everyone will have had to the oppertunity for a booster shot anyways.
The UK government’s down the same path.
More lab results are trickling in and within a month we’ll have enough statistical information to see if it matches.

It’s to do with 32 mutations in one go. That is worrying. So, whether you have natural immunity or vaccinated immunity (roughly the same mechanism for all intensive purposes), you’ll need the booster shot so you have enough antibodies to cover the protein spikes of the virus.
And if it is truly nasty, the virus will ignore current antibodies altogether. That we’ll know within a few weeks (probably). And that then means no amount of current antibody increase is going to help. In other words, they’ll have to adapt the vaccines and medications.
So, as it looks at the moment:
If you’re vaccinated or have recovered from corona longer than 6 months ago, your antibodies aren’t sufficient enough to knock-out omicron.
