@Contenchess
You really don't get it. Omicron has a SEVENTY FIVE TIMES infection rates as even DELTA so don't be so flipping arrogant about it.
You can get Omicron and you just want to flip a coin instead of actually doing the right thing, which is FOLLOW THE SCIENCE and get the jabs.

This winter is going to be hell.
I got shot 3, Pfizer, 1,2 Moderna

It is said getting a different brand from 1,2 makes it stronger, attacking from a different angle kind of.

But of course you won't, since you are superman.

You mean, leading the state that stopped reporting Covid death rates months ago?

Easy to have the "lowest rate" when you stop counting.
What, DeSantis lie?

Hell on whom? Surely not on you. At triple-vaxxed and facing a milder form of COVID in Omicron, you're more at risk from pneumonia (and probably flu) than from COVID.

It's possible that Omicron is more contagious than Delta, but these absurd multipliers thrown out by CNN and the blue-check panic-mongers on Twitter are borderline impossible. It probably spread faster in South Africa mainly because Delta had run out of steam after infecting so many people and it's slightly greater ability to evade the vax will look extreme when Delta numbers are at an ebb.

But okay, let's say Omicron is MUCH more contagious. So what? What evidence is there that Omicron is making large numbers of people seriously ill? None that I see. The evidence is the opposite, if anything - that it's the mildest major strain of COVID yet. It's also going to run up against a LOT of pre-existing immunity this time (vax and prior infection).

Yes, the few elderly/unhealthy COVID-virgins out there are probably looking at a showdown this winter with a partially emasculated version of COVID.

As for me and my family, I think our winter will be fine if the politicians don't screw it up.

Edit: Just got back from a short vacay with my daughter to LA. Griffith Observatory, Universal Studios, restaurants (cold weather<shrug> ). Wearing the mask was annoying but other than that, COVID is impacting me not one iota.

I'll rephrase:

Does any sane person dispute that the difference between a 60% vaccination rate and an 80% one in the US is millions more cases and hundreds of thousands more hospitalizations and deaths?
Still doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result I see.
From the link below:

"The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced this weekend that 80 percent of COVID-19 “Omicron variant” cases are found in so-called “fully vaccinated” individuals. Forty-seven percent of Omicron cases – which are far milder than original COVID-19 cases – are found in those who received the first round of vaccinations, and with 33 percent of cases found in people with both vaccination and booster shots.

Only 19 percent of cases were identified in unvaccinated individuals."

https://thenationalpulse.com/news/a-pandemic-of-the-vaccinated/

"In a surveillance report released in the first week of December, the CDC described 43 cases of Omicron in the United States. No deaths and no hospitalizations have been linked to the variant. Symptoms are mild in both the unvaccinated and vaccinated."

No deaths and no hospitalizations have been linked to the variant. You have made a fool out of yourself again. Stop being a covidiot!

Seriously, after more than 800,000 deaths from this disease in the US alone (almost certainly an undercount), you'd think you'd have some reservations about your year and a half of COVID minimization.

In the last seven days, about 10,000 more Americans have died from COVID which you seem to think is no big deal anymore.

@sh76 said
It is milder than Delta - that's essentially clear by now. For people fully vaccinated (and especially boosted), this seems milder than the flu.

To blame any government for deaths caused by generally mild respiratory pathogens (especially those that are now treatable and for which reasonably effective vaccines exist) misses the point.

It isn't March 2020 any more. T ...[text shortened]... o stop a respiratory pathogen already in their countries is almost comical, if it weren't so tragic.
Could you tell me the last week that 10,000 Americans died from the flu?

I'll wait.

Hundreds of thousands of hospitalizations and deaths? I'm not sure about that, but I'll stipulate to tens of thousands. Almost all of those are people who voluntarily refused to be vaccin ...[text shortened]... ling people. You need to look at all aspects of the legislation to determine whether it makes sense.
Actually, vaccine mandates for employers have been very successful at getting the covered population vaccinated. They'd have been even more successful IF right wing politicians hadn't started litigation and/or passed laws against them in many States.

At least your scare examples are 12 year olds rather than your prior 3 year olds, but the result is the same; you are supporting politicians who are putting in place policies which discourage vaccination and result in more deaths, hospitalizations and assorted costs and misery.

I do. I dispute that.
Of course you do.
Disputing fits your narrative.
Getting to the root of your motivation in this forum will answer the question of your political affiliations or your mental fitness to be in this forum.

Actually, I don't care.
I already think you're a nutcase.

Are you just pretending or do you really think that whether we're still "still kicking COVID around in 2024" depends on the actions of Ron DeSantis, Greg Abbott and Donald Trump?

Just how much evidence do you need before you finally accept the stone cold fact that it is impossible (and I mean impossible; I'm not just using a hyperbole) to vaccinate COVID out of existence (at least with the vaccines we have now)?
Typically, mathematical modeling will bear out that any action, or inaction, will alter a curve going forward.
Meaning that the actions of a president in 2020 can still have effects on that curve a couple years down the road. Eventually the effects will wither away.
Also new events, eg Omicron, can wipe away those effects.

But it is safe to say that Trump's focus on overturning an election instead of developing a vaccine rollout plan at the end of 2020 is still affecting the numbers in the US today.
DeSantis and Abbott with their attempts to disrupt the rollout to meet their political ends is just as damaging, if not more.

As to vaccination not being the 100% magic bullet, that's just stupid conjecture.
80% is still better than 60%, 40% or 0%.

But I guess Roe v Wade is still a higher priority to some.
Sigh 😣😣

You forgot to type HEE HAW at the end of your post.
That would have raised the floor a little on your debating skills. 😛
