I saw a boost from post-2016 R's succussfully removing the mandate fee. Also if you were somewhat over the filing threshold and self-employed you could sidestep the whole 1099 thing letting you pocket what you'd deserve for your burden anyway in filing extra forms. But with the D's the contractor status is done away and the breathing room for error should they allow any looks to be in evaluating virtual assets.
