@wildgrass saidThe laws, courts, presidents, govt, departments, all of those factors which have nothing to do with the issue (of only grads getting the money,,,,,have been mentioned ad nauseum, I even asked Marauder why the laws that 'allow' the forgiveness of loans were made to the extent that they cover only college graduates.
Student loans were left out of a much larger spending bill written and passed by conservatives to forgive federal debt. The pet store owner's federal debt was already cancelled years ago.
BTW, the small biz onwers I know are still quite in debt.
So I ask you, why is there no law to benefit the other people with debt?
@wildgrass saidYou are wrong. So no more debt out there?

@suzianne saidCan't believe you are hawking 'free' out loud.
With the largest GDP on the planet, why can't we make education free in this country? Why not REALLY level the playing field?
I think we know why you (all) can't have that.
And kids are adults after free high school, time to make their life decisions. I think I will be a welder, I think I will be a doctor, and then set out to do it. Poor welder will just have to make do, I guess, while doctor enjoys a few fellowships. You don't think past your nose.
@averagejoe1 saidWhat?! There are thousands of laws to benefit other people in debt.

@wildgrass said"The pet store owners' debt gone years ago'. I assume you mean all pet store owners, or are you speaking of one down the street who hit the lottery.
Not what I wrote.
@wildgrass saidYou can't kid a kidder. When does pet store owner get notice that her debt will be forgiven? And you are correct, I wonder why ONLY college grads are getting daily coverage on TV, just saw Biden still plans on $479 B to grads, ........is here mention of anyone else, could you link it to us.

@averagejoe1 saidI know you don't like links but this website tracks the exact info you are looking for. 5,500 loans to pet shops were forgiven through the PPP to the tune of $267 million.

@wildgrass saidWell, I would pick pet stores out of the air. So you are correct, the federal government, using socialism logic, thinks they should get involved in the debts of citizens. You only prove my point, that if this keeps up, maybe the hardware store and the shoe store will also have government support. Very good that you found this, will give you one of those thumbs that liberals think are so important! Like the little gold stars we got in kindergarten,,,,,,frankly, I loved those things. They infused my desire to get more GOLD stars, if you get my drift. I started by selling christmas cards door to door.

So, you are letting us all know that indeed the govt is creating more dependence, I cannot WAIT till Trump is back in. But, could be too late.
@wildgrass saidWildgrass is apparently correct that this stuff is going on behind the scenes. So if a guy makes bad biz decisions, having no nest egg, etc, the govt says they will bail him out.
What?! There are thousands of laws to benefit other people in debt.
Thump up again. I always learn something on the Forum, esp from Sonhouse.....and Suzianne.
@wajoma saidI didn't say that. In fact, I said that you consider it an insult.
You're the one saying it's an insult to call someone a woman.
The only conclusion is that for some reason you think it's worse to be a woman.
That makes you the moron, and not because you're a woman, but simply because you don't realise you fell into a trap of your own making.
Then you (somehow) misconstrue what I said to satisfy your overweening ego.
@averagejoe1 saidI don't care if the costs of education are all paid by government. We, as a nation, can afford it. As long as it is effectively free for the People.

What you can't deal with is Jerry Bandersnatch, from Podunk, Kentucky, competing with CEOs of corporations for a job. I understand you want the rich white folk to remain on top, and a good way to keep them there is to make education as expensive as possible. This has a side effect of keeping the electorate as stupid as dirt so another rich white guy as dangerous as Trump happens again. I see you.
@suzianne saidAre you serious? That I would want the rich to remain on top? Why can't anyone who wants to be rich, be rich? You little fellers think there is just one pie, or that a select few have all the money. That does not make sense. There are millions of pies, and many to be made.

I want everyone to be rich, I want all boats to be lifted. If everyone is successful, then everyone around them will be. Growth feeds off of other growth.
Yes education is expensive, one must plan. Too bad about the chance of $470B paying off loans. Yu see, it will naturally follow that tutitions will be raised. Google that one, I won't bore you since you will not care about it anyway, it is not enough fodder for you to bitfh about. So, Biden is in effect about to cause tuitions to get just more high. It cost $40K yr just to go to a good private high school. I hate it too, trust me. Glad I worked hard to be able to handle it. You still riding around with Shav in the car? A vert, I understand? Well, don't have kids..........
@suzianne saidBy our taxes. To fund only those who go to college. Some don't. What about them, Suzianne?
I don't care if the costs of education are all paid by government.
Why won't you answer this question?
@suzianne saidsuzi getting carried away with her supposed mind reading capabilities.
I didn't say that. In fact, I said that you consider it an insult.
Then you (somehow) misconstrue what I said to satisfy your overweening ego.
I do not consider it an insult.
It is only you making a deal out of this, it is only you that's all screwed up about this.
