croc's have announced they are going out of business due to cheap knockoffs from china. Actually, its because people are buying the cheap knockoffs instead of the real thing...but i digress.

I hope you are not one of those people that is against NAFTA and complains about jobs being outsourced overseas...

We deregulated our economy and put in place measures that would level the economic playing field. Unfortunately though, the mortgage belt suffered a lot of pain in the 90's as a result of this restructuring and deregulation also coinciding with a worldwide economic downturn, causing the architect of these policies Prime Minister Keating to be voted out of office in a severe voter backlash that ended up giving the Liberals an 11 year run in office. Looking back in hindsight though, if we hadn't done all that restructuring then, we would have probably gone steadily backwards, and now be rapidly approaching the developing world in terms of many of the OECD metrics that say that we are still a first world nation.
The point is on overall trade terms its all about balance of payments, and China who imports huge amounts of resource wealth from Australia ( iron ore, coal, wool and cotton among our chief exports) expects justifiably so, a quid pro quo in terms of being able to sell things back to us.
For that reason, satire and sarcasm aside, I am actually doing my patriotic duty by buying Chinese goods. It helps keep a healthy balance of payments between our two countries and in the process has opened the possibility of growth in other parts of the economy that having stayed locked into preserving our manufacturing industries at all costs may not have uncovered.

It is one of the reasons why the middle class have stagnated in terms of real economic gain here. The gap between the rich and the middle class will continue to widen in the coming decades and eventually we will see a return to the old days where an incredible amount of wealth is held by only a small percentage of people and the vast majority of poeple will find employment only in catering to the needs of the wealthy.
A country that does not create wealth cannot sustain it.

We're talking hardcore ass-[censored] stuff - scat play. And Jon, that's not just in bathrooms. Anytime you see anyone wearing crocs, be aware. ... If they're wearing Crocs, they are soliciting incredibly depraved gay sex. You can take that to the bank."
