People are happier in socialist countries.

Since people are happier in socialist countries just think how much happier they would be in a communist country. Now do you understand why capitalists hate Marxism so much? How can a capitalist country exist if everyone leaves? It can't.
Marxism is an existential threat to capitalism. There will come a day when capitalism does not exist anymore. Business owners cannot prosper without workers so in the end even the capitalists will leave to where the workers are.
@Metal-Brain saidAbraham Lincoln straightens this out. 😆

The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves- in their separate, and individual capacities. In all that the people can individually do as well for themselves, government ought not to interfere.
Socialism (i.e. government) notoriously pays no attention to wealth. Socialism provides justice, the process of voting, passing laws, defense, public works - all without charging individuals anything. It is the "free stuff" that AverageJoe screams about all the time, but (unknown to him because he is as thick as two short planks) this is super important stuff.
Once socialism creates order, free individuals with the liberty to do as they please, start business and provide very efficiently for the wants and needs of others, through monetary exchanges. The elegant garden of capitalism flowers on the good solid earth of socialism - and in fact capitalism withers and dies very quickly without that foundation.
Socialism handles voting. Capitalism provides cheese. And the roles are not interchangeable: we don't need Citizen's United to contaminate voting with money or "government-provided cheese" etc. That's why we don't need a CEO as President. CEO's run businesses. The President runs the country. The skill set is not the same (as if we needed more evidence of that.)
Socialism is your mother. Capitalism is your father. We need both to have a healthy and happy society. 😆
NB: It's weird. I don't know how or why people are so confused about this. I'm a simple biostatistician, and it is all very clear to me. And yet we have people dividing into camps, screaming that one side or the other side is "right" and the other side should be "eliminated." How can we have so many smart people in the media talking such nonsense with so many open-mouthed, gullible people listening and nodding their heads? Just THINK. The truth is not hard.
@Metal-Brain saidCommunism is a fool's paradise sir, can never exist in reality. (Humans are inherently greedy).

@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidSo greedy people makes socialism impossible? So how did all these social programs become a part of the USA?

@Metal-Brain saidYou think socialism and communism are the same thing?

@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidSocialism is the transition between capitalism and communism.
You think socialism and communism are the same thing?
@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidCommunism means letting government intrude widely into the free market. It is the opposite - but an equally bad - idea to letting business run government. 😆
You think socialism and communism are the same thing?
Neither should happen.
@Metal-Brain saidOh dear.
Socialism is the transition between capitalism and communism.
Here, have a ball.
@spruce112358 saidChaps like Metal Brain always befuddle the two.

@Metal-Brain saidIf you read that report, there is more to happiness than socialism. 😆

Why are people happier in socialist countries?
For example, in much of the world, the young are happier than the old, but in North America, and many other highly rated countries, the old are much happier than the young.
Also, the US and Germany have both slipped significantly (and equivalently) in rankings lately, but Germany is much more socialist overall. [Interestingly, both the US and Germany have become noticeably more fascist - so maybe the rise of fascism drives unhappiness?] 😆
Many studies show that a) most people's happiness comes from positive interactions with friends and family, and b) people are more upset losing something they have than they are not gaining something they don't have. So in that regard, a socialist society makes more guarantees e.g. that you won't lose healthcare if you lose your job. And the most significant predictive factor for the set of responses seems to be "Healthy life expectancy at birth." So if there is a socialist effect it is probably driven by reliable and reasonably priced access to healthcare. 😆
@Metal-Brain saidNot even close. 😆
Socialism is the transition between capitalism and communism.
@Metal-Brain saidOne doesn't 'transition' to the other - they are symbiotic. 😆
Socialism is the transition between capitalism and communism.
Socialism says 'We must protect everyone's rights equally.' Socialism doesn't care at all about profits, only rights.
Capitalism says 'I can do whatever I want with my money.' Capitalism doesn't give a fig about rights, only profits.
Capitalism dies without socialist protections of things like property rights; but socialism can't protect everyone's rights without the resources of a strong capitalist sector. 😆
Symbiotes.
EDIT: Communism OTOH is like having committees decide absolutely everything in the public AND private sector. It's just a whole separate nightmare of an idea - and fails because what automatically happens is that everybody tries to make sure only THEY are on those committees.

Well, these people certainly aren't feeling much pain; that's for sure...
