Having a cashless society makes no difference whatsoever to how a country manipulates the value of the currency. Having physical money does not give it any 'reality' that doesn't exist in the virtual money. Reality went 'poof' hundreds of years ago when paper money was invented. Even in the days of gold/copper money governments manipulated value by various means.

All that is at least partially true. That is a problem, and there is no sense in cementing that problem even more so than it already is. We ought to be looking for a solution to the problem rather than fixing it in place.
