This thread is hilarious.

bjohnson407 - it's people like you who give weight to the un-deserved generalisation of "Americans are idiots" tag.

Casto's regime was an excellent example of how a socialist republic can work for the majority of it's people, unlike the massive divides we see in our so called capitalist societies, where greed is at the top of the agenda

But you can't honestly take yourself seriously arguing a position like that, can you?

The US has been trying to remove Fidel Castro from power for half a century. To say that we've done nothing is absurd! Show me the Icelandic plot to poison dubya's cowboy hat, then maybe we can have a Serious conversation.
It was you who said the US had did nothing:
"it was the US policy of "waitin' it out" (Operation Let Nature Run Its Course) that put an end to the Castro and his vicious machinations."

Oh be nice!

All I'm saying is, its entirely the result of US foreign policy that Castro stepped down. That should be obvious to everyone.

Now I've got Mike telling me that the American electoral process is controlled by Iceland. You can't honestly believe that! do you?

That's ridiculous. Castro stepped down because of old age, and put the man he trusted most in charge....from an American perspective, Castro Junior - I guess your 'battle' continues

US Foreign Policy is and has been for many years, the greatest threat to World stability and peace. Their greed and desire to own more than their fair share and control other nations for their own selfish means (treating cultural differences as a threat) is alarming.

It's easy not to see that, when you've got your blinkers on. Back to bed honey

Mike was pointing out how utterly ridiculous your argument was, by metaphorically, putting the shoe on the other foot

The fact that you took that literally, suggests your education was either of a poor standard (try Cuba - their education system is excellent I hear) or you have issues: which, if that is the case, I must offer my apologies for my previous tone

You really are pedantic.

Also, you left out a possibility. Your either/or is what logicians call a false dichotomy.

I just spent a week there and very much enjoyed my time. The Cubans we encountered were a warm outgoing well educated people. They definitely were far more literate and well educated than the majority of Americans I have met, but like many Americans, are highly indoctrinated into thinking their country is..... well, I leave it to you to use your imagination, but the Cubans do share that patriotism with the USA.

How many Americans have you met? FAR MORE? Have there been any studies proving this? I'm just curious. Maybe it's true.
