While Trump condemned the shooting of Minnesota state legislators, he certainly did not claim it to be a half staff flag event. Nor did he rant about ferreting out those who would attack Dems. The individual who killed the Minnesota couple had a list of 45 Dems he wanted dead. In fact, Trump has incited violence against Democrats by calling all Dems very nasty names.

A lot of racist White men couldn’t get their minds around the idea of an erudite, educated, Black man becoming president. The turning point was when racism creeped out of the woodwork, became public and emboldened; it was Trump who led the charged by spreading the false narrative about Obama’s foreign birth. Before that, racism was a thing to be ashamed of, not patriotic about.
