Constant Chicago Mass Shootings Ignored by Corporate Media
As tragic mass shootings at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York, an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, and a medical building in Tulsa, Oklahoma, continue to dominate print, online, and television news coverage nationwide, the establishment media has largely ignored the devastating mass shootings that persist in the streets of Chicago.

More than 50 people were shot – nine fatally – during what was called the bloodiest Memorial Day weekend to hit the Windy City since 2016.

---------------------------------

I do not understand why the MSM continues to ignore the extreme violence in Chicago,
a city that seems as dangerous to be in as Mariupol, Ukraine.

Not mass shootings.
Just loads of individual shootings.

And why you think this serves your pro-gun narrative is beyond me.

That's because I am not trying to push a pro-gun narrative, ass.

So how do you square people like me not having a gun, but criminals do have guns?

It could be that the MSM would be called for discriminating?

It shows in a place with really strict gun laws; the laws don't curtail the deaths,
that the leadership in that city and state actions are not working, so when
others want to adopt them; it is a prime example of doing the samething over
and over again, getting the same results and hoping something different will
happen.

Exactly.
They don't report the insane number of shootings in Chicago, etc because they are done by you-know-who and they don't want to report on anything that would make them look bad.

There are no "strict gun laws" in Chicago as has been pointed out to right wingers on this site numerous times. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2017/oct/03/sarah-huckabee-sanders/chicago-toughest-gun-control-claim-shot-full-holes/

NEWSMAX, HUH?
......Mass shootings are defined by one
shooter and multiple victims....
Regular, street gang shootings don't fit the bill.

Why not?
They usually consist of one shooter and multiple victims.

WRONG....One shooter,
multiple victims in one event.

What does that mean?
You got gang bangers shooting up everyone they see and you don't want to classify it as a mass shooting.
Why not?

Earl (presumably quoting): I do not understand why the MSM continues to ignore the extreme violence in Chicago,

The siege of Mariupol lasted about 3 months and city officials reported "about 21,000 civilians had been killed." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Mariupol

Chicago, which has a population more than 6 times prewar Mariupol, had 49 murders in April. https://wgntv.com/news/chicagocrime/9-killed-26-wounded-in-weekend-chicago-shootings/

Let's try not to be totally ridiculous, shall we?

A mass shooting where 10 people are killed in a supermarket and 19 are mowed down in a school are more national newsworthy than shootings where one person is killed and several others injured because of a gang dispute. That's just common sense.

What about gang shootings where a lot of people are killed or wounded, why do they not qualify as a "mass shooting?"

I didn't say they don't qualify as a "mass shooting"; that was somebody else.

There is no legal definition for "mass shootings" but a common one is: "if four or more people are shot or killed in a single incident, not including the shooter, that incident is categorized as a mass shooting". https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/methodology

I'm fine with that definition but still some mass shootings are more national newsworthy than others.
