I find hard to believe that this practice still exists.
It happened to me I would sue the cutter for assault. As a baby/child you cannot give authority for some one to cut part of your genitals off.
I believe that no circumcision should be carried out before the age 18. I bet you won't get many people volunteering for the snip at that age.

You may be against it but im sure it is a diffrent matter for many jews. They prob want it done and are pleased they had it done. If your parents were jewish and you were brought up as one im sure you would feel very diffrently. Have you ever spoken to a jew about it and more specificly one that wishes he had not or an ex-jew?

I think it makes the penis more attractive 🙂
I have seen it done and held babies while it is being done and (appears) to cause no more distress than any other minor medical procedure.
If I had a son I would want it to be carried out.

not one mention of female circumcision!
seems like male circumcision is for religious or health reasons, with added benefits of improved sexual pleasure but female circumcision is taboo!
why is one a barbarous practice and the other acceptable, albeit a matter of faith or medical choice?
could anyone enlighten me on the spiritual reasons for male circumcision please?
Male circumcision is a benign practice that is debated by spoiled rich kids with too much time on their hands and with too much desire to show the world how enlightened they are.
Female circumcision is absolutely horrible. As someone said, outer parts are cut completely off, usually with no anesethsia and often with dirty equipment. This is usually done when the girls are 8 or 9, and they are taken somewhere remote so that no one can hear them scream. Then the remaining opening is sewn together such that there is barely room left to urinate. For several days after the procedure there is intense pain when urinating. There are often infections that lead to death. The principle reason for FGM is to prevent sexual activity by unmarried females, and perhaps to prevent them from enjoying sex when married ( so they won't be tempted to cheat). Of course, on the day they are married, what was sewn together during FGM must be ripped back open, causing more intense pain.
Trying to treat male circumcision as if it were similar to FGM just makes people prone to take lightly just how horrible FGM is.
Male circumcision was commanded of the Jews to be done on the 8th day after birth. It is not commanded for Christians, but since most Christians believe the God of the Old Testiment to be benevalent, many are inclined to assume circumcision must have benefits, and at least would cause no harm. I'm not quite clear on Muslim beliefs, but I know some form of "circumcision" is called for on both males and females, but I've been told by someone from a country that practices FGM that what is actually required of females is very minor, and nothing like FGM.
(FGM = Female Genetial Mutilation)

It may reduce the STD rates because the skin is thickened but it allows parasites and other small organisms to have an easier access into your body since there is no more skin to protect.
it doesn't improve cleanliness
cleanliness only depends on the will to wash yourself or not;your sex is like your teeth or you body, either yo ly ones to have the right to choose to do it or not (once they are old enough to understand)
Having all your teeth pulled out reduces tooth decay, apparently as well.
The cleanliness argument is just that people too lazy to actually wash can get away without being infected.
Also, I have never had an infection through not being clean, and no-one I know has either (and I have known some pretty lazy, unclean hippy types).

And regretted the decision once the procedure started.
You've held down babies, and compare it to nothing more distressing than a minor procedure?
Witnessing this is hell. I have yet to talk to another parent that actually accompanied their child into the room, but I insisted, with the doctor stumped at my presense, as she had never had a parent present.
They strap the child down at arms and legs, place an awful steel contraption on the penis, and precisely, and ever so slowly cut into their unnumbed skin. It is agony to watch, and it is not a fast procedure. It is not a "snip" and you're done.
I would never put another child through this, and was completely disgusted, sick, and heartbroken at having put my own through it.
Those of you minimizing it...make sure to stand there and watch as it is done to your baby. And think of how minimal it is, as your newborn is strapped down, trembling, shrieking in pain, and being tortured.
Or, do as most, and stay tucked away in your hospital room, as they tote your child off, for a little "minor procedure". Take my word, it is not minor.
