I find hard to believe that this practice still exists.
It happened to me I would sue the cutter for assault. As a baby/child you cannot give authority for some one to cut part of your genitals off.
I believe that no circumcision should be carried out before the age 18. I bet you won't get many people volunteering for the snip at that age.
Originally posted by invigorateYeah, well, I agree I wouldn't want it happening to me, but as for the whole baby / authority thing, your parents are responsible for all that type thing until you turn 16. Bloody parents. If I was one of those kids I'd just give my parents a bloody good hiding the day before I turn 16 (then I couldn't be charged with assault).

All settled?
Good.
*sometimes* it makes medical sense to have the procedure done.

Originally posted by invigorateThe fact of the matter is that it's a good thing to circumcise. It makes for a much cleaner area around the beechnut, and it improves your sex (once the skin of the beechnut has thickened).

You don't lose your testicles, you don't lose your penis, you don't lose its head and you don't lose your frenulum.
However, I do tend to agree with the basic assumption that it is a form of mutulation.
The idea that it's more hygenic is rubbish though. If someone WASHES themselves (maybe a fairytale like term for most chess playing folks though), then it's not more hygenic.
It does make the penis less absorbant (a tougher layer on the membrane of the head makes it less likely to get infected by VD's).
There are cases in which it is removed for health reasons (the skin being too tight to pull back properly, and so making it difficult to clean), but these tend to be at a slightly later age.
Any other reason for doing it is up for debate as far as I'm concerned, and then I reckon the subject at hand should have at least a fair say in the debate and probably executive powers on the matter.

Circumcision I know is done for religious purposes - but this seems to me to be just another arguement against religion.
I've heard the man lasts longer after the snip, but I would counter it if fun learning the art of control.
I am therefore yet to hear a sound arguement for mutulating so many innocent babies.

If your parents were jewish and you were brought up as one im sure you would feel very diffrently. Have you ever spoken to a jew about it and more specificly one that wishes he had not or an ex-jew?
