@cheesemaster said“ Do you live near one?”
Preserve them?
Raze them and build?
Use them again? 😆
Do you live near one?
Yeah ‘Naseby’
@cheesemaster saidLike 99.9% of the folks in the North, I don't care about the Civil War at all. It amazes me how many in the South still dwell so heavily on it. If you folks want to keep that alive, that's fine by me, just stick signs in the ground where the battles were, and let the birds poop on them for the next 50 years. Signs are cheap, and easily replaced. 😴

@mchill saidSpoken like a most-typical angry liberal. Anyway, a thoughtful post, Cheesemaster. For me, I am in Atlanta at the moment, there is Kennesaw mountain where Sherman took out his binocs, surveying his target, and in the distance is Stone Mountain, with its carving of Lee on his trusty Traveler. But lets not get into removing Lee and Traveler!!!! You might find Reseca to have an interesting history, and then there is the sad Andersonville. But then, this is Georgia. Hell, I think the race going on right now is more important than the civil war. Their change of America was not quite soo......fundamental?

@averagejoe1 saidWe have civil war re-enactments and all the major battlefields are accessible and covered by historic associations but none of them or the story of it are rallying points for discontents and there are no alternative national flags associated with either side.

It’s not the liberals that are making your civil war a contentious issue.

I you bother to read my post before reacting, you'd notice I don't give a hoot about the Civil War. Not seeing a lot of anger here-
I was born and raised near the Chickamauga Battlefield. I returned to it last month. It is a place of great natural beauty and important civil war history.
The difference between statues being removed or military bases being renamed compared to the preservation of this site is that Chickamauga is the actual place where history happened. The park does a great job of explaining the battle and where it fits into the US Civil War. The Southern 'cause' is not glorified. It is the battle that is remembered and interpreted.
@russ saidYes but I guess my questions could apply to all battlefields worldwide 🤔
Live near one? I live ON one...
