Biden simply wasted our time. It worries me, too, that the man has no logic. And it clearly would have been unconstitutional.
Do you think that the people who wanted to have their loans forgiven will defect to the Republican Party, having been duped by false promise?

No they’ll see that scumbag republicans shot down loan forgiveness and come out en masse in 2024 and keep the GOP out of the White House.
People vote in their best interests it’s just common sense 🙄

It would unconstitutional for a president to decide to pay off the loans. Did we not already know that going in? What a waste of time. So I don’t know what you are talking about, as it is the constitution that ruled, not Republicans. What in the hell are you talking about?
Shav and Zhalanzi, jump in here and help Kev out.

Loan forgiveness is actually a very common thing that happens a lot in other areas of our economy. Several of the lawmakers who voted against student loan forgiveness had their own loans forgiven.

Logically, the SCOTUS decision ignores all that. Free money for me but not thee.

Who , or what entities, had what loans forgiven? Keep in mind. We are speaking of an executive order which, of course, was shot down because the constitution does not allow a president to do that. I have a feeling what you are referencing was not an executive order?

Your post is a great example of what we conservatives and Republicans have to deal with, with all of the casual comments made in the forum.

No it wouldn't. The government gives bailouts to corporations; so why not forgive debts of ordinary taxpayers drowning in debt?

The authority was given to the Secretary of Education by Congress to make this decision. Maybe it was a good idea or maybe it was a bad idea. I don't know but they made it. They could rescind authority. They could pass new legislation. This should not have been a SCOTUS decision.

But you are just arguing semantics and procedure. The (unelected) court assumed the responsibility of Congressional and Executive branch in order to enact national policy about student loan forgiveness.

My post related to your original point that people should pay back their loans. Lots and lots and lots of people do not. What makes student loans unique in your view?

Congress can fix it. But they won't. Because they suck.

Or maybe they will see that the republicans are not so self righteous enough as to believe that they can simply " TAKE " someones money and give it to whomsoever they please. In this case to the most likely woke crowd that they are hoping will vote for them. Rather like buying votes.
Seems some are so comfortable with the idea of " taking ".

Yes, it would be unconstitutional. The rest of your post has no basis. I simply am stating an unadulterated fact.....why type all that other stuff, rife irrelevance about the point of student loan forgiveness.

?? Who said student loans are unique? I never said that, and do not get your point. They are not unique.
One borrows,, one pays back.

Seriously, there is one program for loan relief, passed to help our veterans who went off to fight for America, but I know of no other where a president can shoehorn the college loans into relief status.

One borrows, one pays back. Common sense, logic, rationale.

Man, do I miss your point. The dems are spending all of our money like there is no tomorrow.
Hey, did you see where dems are sheltering more immigrants in New York City than they are our homeless people....which include veterans who are usually sick as hell?
Man,, I sure do miss your point.....maybe a mistype??

i wonder who keeps cutting back programs to help veterans. I am completely stumped, i have no idea. I suppose it must be one of the only two relevant parties in Amerika, but which one of the two could it be.

Apologies to Jimmac, I gloss over such tripe on this site that I attibuted your 'take someone else's money and give it to someone else " to be a reference to Democrats doing it, which they do.
Is it not so telling that these lib losers on this site never speak directly to our pointing that out 24/7. They accept other people's money, the spend it, they laugh about it, the want MORE...
I have asked this question several times....
How much of someone else's money would be a fair-share for you to take? When they simply read it, imagine how icky it makes them feel.
