China, Russia, and now Cuba... Communists all return to their economic senses,, eventually!
    --------------------------------------------

Cuba opens door to most small business initiatives - News.Trust

HAVANA, Feb 6 (Reuters) - In a major reform of the state-dominated economy, the Cuban government will allow small private businesses to operate in most fields, eliminating its limited list of activities, state-run media reported on Saturday.

The measure, coming as the Caribbean island seeks to recover from an economic slump, will expand the field from 127 activities to more than 2,000, Labor Minister Marta Elena Feito Cabrera was quoted as saying. She spoke at a council of ministers meeting that approved the policy.

She said there would be 124 exceptions, but the media reports provided no details.

Reform-minded Cuban economists have long called for the role of small business to be expanded to help jump-start the economy and to create jobs.

Anyone with common sense has known all along what it would take to stop the economy of Cuba from continuing to erode. My opinion is, the Cuban regime feels that a revolution will occur in Cuba if their economy continues to slide, hence, a severe loss of power for the Cuban leaders, ala, their close ally, Russia.

Perhaps an opportune President Biden will jump in here and relieve Cuba of some of the economic sanctions that the US has placed on their country and give the Cuban people some hope, maybe?? It's called Diplomacy, Joe. Got any?

Good news whatever the reason as long as they keep the social provision basis of their revolution. Such as free education, health care etc.
I think this is the best that socialism can be. The fruits of capitalism feeding the socialist root and branch.

Ahhh, Kev, this is where you libs make such a huge mistake.

You think that because communists hold at a premium, "social provision Such as free education, health care...", housing, etc, that they would be better at providing such amenities to their people. WRONG.

The citizens in capitalist or free market systems get more of these amenities then typical communist countries. What they want for their citizens they simply can't deliver because their economic system has been eroded away.

Another sad part of communism is, it teaches the people to be dependent. Not good when the country tries switching over to free market/capitalist economy.

    Wrong.
Even after 40 years of very tough economic sanctions, the Cuban healthcare system was very effective.

    What an idiot.

One of Castro's daughters fled Cuba in the 1990's to get a better education for her children.

And housing?? Many people in Havana and elsewhere live in apartments that have rotted away so badly over the years, that they are very dangerous to live in. But the people have nowhere else to go to.

America hands out totally safe and inspected apartments to total strangers to America every day. Cuba cannot do that for their own people, let alone immigrants.

Talk to ,me about "the people's paradise" - because people resoundingly, now, think that that paradise is America, not Cuba or NKorea.

How's the food there, adequate? Do you like peddling your bike to go to work or shop?

No bother, I'll "fact check" for you. Is the New York Times sufficient, forgetful one??
    ------------------------------------

Castro's Daughter Pleads for Her Own --- NYT

Fidel Castro's estranged daughter, who defected to the United States on Tuesday after what she described as a cloak-and-dagger escape from Cuba, surfaced here today to tweak her father for his misrule and to plead with him to let his granddaughter join her in freedom.

Appearing haggard and tense at a news conference, Alina Fernandez Revuelta told how she had secretly obtained a Spanish passport, gained weight, donned a wig and applied layers of makeup so that her appearance would match that of the woman whose identity she had assumed. On Sunday, she said, her chance came and she seized it, boarding a flight to Madrid and then heading to the United States after her request for political asylum was quickly granted.

I don't know why it is but Liberal elitists and progs have a hard time admitting that Communist countries (North Korea, Cuba) are slave farms. Libs/Progs will complain all day long about American slavery that ended 160 years ago, but won't show an ounce of concern for the slave farms of the aforementioned.

Here we see a Cuban woman, Fidel Castro's daughter, have to DEFECT (escape) to get out of that hell hole, Cuba. and she had the rich privileged life. Imagine what life must be like for a desperately poor Cuban worker...?

But as the communist Duchess64 points out, the Cubans are making such progress in other areas! So I guess that means, slavery on Cuba/NKorea is Ok. It's Ok in China too, according to Duchess64. But WHITE Americans are slave masters.

    [Long sigh]

...I lived in Cuba....Big city Havana has no people sleeping on the streets.Safe city too. Broke a tooth down there and the dentistry was free. ....Once as my wife and I were in a long line, at the airport, and she was carrying our newborn infant. An official walked up to us and escorted them to the front of the line,(I tagged along) he said, ''In Cuba, women and children go first...'' Did you know that Cuba will put you through medical school, for free, if you commit to two years service in a poor country or area? A woman I know took advantage of this program and she practiced medicine, HERE IN THE USA, on The Indian Nation in Arizona.....Seems as if we could learn a thing or two from Cuba.........A country that we terrorized for 20 years....Who can forget the Bay of Pigs?........Live and let live....Are the Afghan people better off since we 'liberated' them?....The adults in the room should have realized, by now, that our way may not be the best way for everyone.

Oh, I cherry picked...? When was the last time you heard of an America "defecting"?
Jeeezus, Duches64, wake up. The laws preventing people from escaping Cuba apply to everyone.
    -----------

Mister González choosing to stay in Cub is NOT going to excuse Cuba for slaving the people that want to leave but can't

After emancipation in America, some former slaves chose to stay on the plantation because they could not survive outside the plantation and knew not where to go. Does that men that slavery to other individuals is legal??

'Fraid not Duchess64. Cuba is a gigantic Slave Farm. Stop protecting them.
