The USA is the dominant world power right now and it will stay that way. If we don't dominate the world someone else will.

Any nation that imports oil needs US dollars. To get dollars from us they need to sell us products in return for dollars. That is one of the reasons the trade deficit is like it is.

The oil buying world will remain in servitude to our empire. If you want oil you need to lower your prices. If we don't do it some other nation will.

Third world countries fared better under Imperialist rule. Had Imperialism continued the world would be a better, safer, wealthier place.

Are you a silent observer? Why not make a contribution instead o cheering or ridiculing from the sidelines. Is that all you are capable of?

What would be North and South America be like now had all the countries gotten together and agreed to be one country. Why is Hawaii so prosperous? The Cayman islands, Puerto Rico, likewise. Why is Jamaica, Haiti, Honduras etc, a stones throw from the most prosperous nations live in such horrendous poverty? Would would Africa look like now had they allowed the EU to manage their resources? Answer: These countries would be paradise on Earth.

The reason is simple. Thrid world countries cannot manage their resources.

If US imperialism is tied to oil then it’s going to severely decline in the near to medium future.
The clever US imperialists could do a lot worse than taking the lead in, or at least keeping up with, renewable technologies. Unfortunately for the idiotic right in the US ‘Green’ is the new ‘Red’ and they still think your better of dead.

I'm proud to be British but not proud of its past. Imperialism centres around slavery.

Instead of taking over a nation and it's cultural values and civil rights for financial gain it would be healthier to aid struggling nations so they can rebuild themselves for their own benefit.

Nothing is wrong with being proud of your British heritage, and I will tell you that having been a born and bred island dweller, many here now quietly acknowledge that life was far better under British rule. The same I am sure with most of the thrid world. They are now seeing that independence from Imperialist powers is a curse.

Imperialism is not slavery, neither does is center around it. You are mistaken.

I don't think you understand what imperialism is; if you did, I don't think you'd try to defend it, much less American imperialism.

As other posters have pointed out, oil dependency will not last as the world makes room renewable energy.

Maybe because it's the Christmas season that I have even the faintest hope a disgustingly adamant bigot such as yourself is merely ignorant rather than evil; but read the link below:

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-10988938#:~:text=In%201825%20France%20demanded%20150m,demand%20was%20illegitimate%20and%20illegal.

A primer: Haiti, after fighting to free itself from slavery (the first nation ever to do so). France demanded payment from Haiti for all the money it lost as a result of Haiti no longer being their slaves; an act that helped plunge Haiti into poverty.

There was also U.S. involvement that included sanctioning Haiti so U.S. slaves wouldn't be encouraged to start their own revolt; but that's only the beginning of decades-long exploitation and ravaging of Haiti from the U.S., that includes interfering in their elections, and a whole host of other acts that contributed Haiti's poverty. Haiti didn't just screw up it's resources, they were robbed and oppressed endlessly, for decades, only to cap it off with a devastating earthquake.

So in the spirit of Christmas that celebrates Jesus, a man who preached loving thy neighbor and is bafflingly followed by white supremacists such as yourself, read the link. Educate yourself and stop asking these same questions over and over.

Oil will always be in demand. Automobiles run on oil refined fuel. We need it for lubricants, plastics and lots of other things.

This is a new kind of imperialism. I believe the petrodollar was Henry Kissinger's idea. We don't just give away US dollars. If you want them you have to trade with us to get them. If your prices are not low enough to be in demand you don't trade.

You can go to the exchange markets, but all of those dollars came from the USA at some point. You can get them from China, but once again, you have to have something they are willing to give up those dollars for.

We also require that Saudi Arabia invest most of those dollars in US treasury bonds when they sell their oil. That way they come right back here and strengthen the dollar. Another brilliant idea from Kissinger. Who cares if we have trade deficits if we control the direction of trade?

The only downside is if too many oil exporting countries sell their oil in another currency. That is why we have to invade countries that do that and restore trade in US dollars. We have the military to do it too. Nothing can stop us.
