No, it was dismantled through diplomacy.

It was spent out of existence when it tried to match America's military might.

I would like to disagree.
Commuism is a form of slavery and you cannot enslave people forever.

Capitalism is a form of slavery as well and, indeed, you cannot enslave people forever. That's why people like Hugo Chavez present such a fascinating prospect.

So translated, you are saying that commuists (or the leaders) are stupid people. They tried to outspend a highly successful capitalist system ?

Why would they ever want to leave? Haven't you been reading these forums? Cuba is a paradise thanks to Fidel.

Yes I have. And the way you put that suggests to me that you are going to pretend that you have too. But you're just bluffing. I live in Indonesia. It's a capitalist country. A sweatshop for the capitalist system, in fact. An engine room. I can see the reality all around me. Believe you me, capitalism is a form of slavery too. You should travel around the world a little. Broaden your horizons.

And the US is not too willing to have me move there either. I once tried to go to the UK (where I have a legal right of abode) and they threw so much red tape and costs at me that I gave up.

Exactly how does Hugo Chavez present the prospect of freeing people from the slavery of communism and/or capitalism? From my view he is simply in the business of consolidating power towards his regime and setting himself up as dictator of Venezuela. The average schmoe will be no better off with Hugo than with capitalist exploitation.

I agree with you in a way. Capatalism does create a form of slavery because capital will always seek the path of least resistance which at the moment happens to be sweatshops in Indonesia and other places.

Yes if you are from another country spending money there, they love you and you can have a wonderful time. But if you live there and are a resident, it sucks. Most of the thousand opon thousands of Cubans that make it to south Florida on make shift rafts and whatever they can find to float on, will tell you that and the words they most often use are F@#k Fidel.

Oh? Haven't you been following what's been going on in Venezuela for the last 9 years? Your bald assertion makes it seem like you might not actually be all that interested in what's happening.
