A few weeks ago Canada accused India of assassinating a Khalistani-Canadian citizen (Canada has the largest population of Khalistanis outside of India).
This accusation caused sour relations and a petty back-and-forth between the two nations. Trudeau's reputation took a serious hit during all this.
Now the U.S. says it foiled an assassination plot to kill a Khalistani in New York and charged an Indian national with the crime:

Some background:
Khalistanis are a Sikh separatist movement in India who want the Punjab region of India to break away as their own nation. Khalistanis are considered terrorists by the government of India and there's been considerable violence both against this group and from them for decades. A Sikh killed Indira Gandhi (first and only female PM of India) after she allowed the holiest Sikh temple to be stormed to arrest Sikh separatists.
India vehemently denied killing the Khalastini in Canada, even mocking Trudeau and even revoked Canadian visas. So...was the Indian government behind these assassination plots?
@shavixmir saidHe was someone who was in favor of regional separatism
It’s a serious allegation:
India is assissinating people in foreign countries.
Was the victim someone of importance or an activist or something?
Or was it an average Joe?
@shavixmir saidHe was a very active Sikh separatist wich in India is enough to be registered as a terrorist by Modi’s government

@shavixmir saidNo but he was in no way advocating violence and nothing paramilitary about the group, it’s like the British government assassinating someone from the SNP because they campaigned for an independent Scotland
So, not just some random civilian.
Naughty Indians!
@kevcvs57 saidTrue but the group has been accused of violence:

This news channel is biased in favor of India but the information is accurate. I've posted vids from this channel before. The Khalistani are not as cookie-cutter as Trudeau would have you believe.
@athousandyoung saidYes. India is the world's next superpower.
the current global situation India is likely to get more powerful in the near future in Zeihan's opinon so we should take them seriously
This is especially significant as more countries like Saudi Arabia want to join BRICS.

The US has said it foiled an alleged plot to assassinate an American citizen in New York who advocated for a Sikh separatist state.
Nikhil Gupta, an Indian national, is accused of trying to hire a hitman for $100,000 (£79,000) in cash.
But the hitman was actually an undercover federal agent, prosecutors said.
Mr Gupta, 52, is in jail in the Czech Republic pending extradition. The charges carry up to 20 years in prison.
He was allegedly directed by an Indian government official who was not named or charged in the indictment.
@vivify saidIndian state supporting media is really not something that should be cited.

Modi is the head of an ultra Hindu nationalist regime that takes out placard waver’s on the streets of Canada and the US and probably anywhere it finds them.
@vivify saidAny organisation with India and China at its heart is never going to amount to much. If it manages to stop a territorial war between the two it will have an excellent job though

@vivify saidYes yes it definitely was without a shadow of a doubt

Or do you have an alternative suspect? China maybe trying to sour relations between its regional competition and the west.
