The only reason for still having NATO is that trump can’t just grab Iceland.

But what is that worth. The man tramples over international law, destroys his own civil service and health care. The man is an idiot with boundless power and resources. Like a kid with a machinegun, suffering from narcissism, ADHD and small cock syndrome…

He can’t be trusted to adhere to NATO rules.
He has to be ignored and he and his country have to be dumped.

How?
Hong Kong.
Get Russia and Ukraine to make a 50 year deal for some territory. Bring Russia and China into the EU economic fold with far reaching trade and protection agreements.

And everyone breaks off economic ties with the US. Quarantine the bastards.

It’s the only way to curb trump’s meglomanic aggression and to create a more stable world.

To have Chin a as partner would be about as bad as having Trump. And Russia only without Putin and his ilk.

About the USA: As long as there are elections there is still hope.

He’s already side-lined congres and he’s stacked the courts.

I think the Europeans have to be more worried about fascist US at the moment.

I think Trump is trying to avoid a war with China over Taiwan. By claiming Greenland should be part of North America because its in its neighborhood, it gives Xi a good story about Taiwan being returned to the motherland of China. And it avoids WW3.

Plus it will make a lot of money for everyone involved and amid all the speculation and conjecturing, Epstein will not be part of the news cycle for a while.

You are assuming he is making these choices on his own. He is probably a puppet with blackmail material in the Epstein files. We know the DOJ redacted more than the victim's names. The redactions could be undone and they were found out redacting Trump's name.

For a price, for a very high price, and there is no guarantee that it would avoid WW3. Trading land for peace did not work with Hitler, there is no reason to think it will work with Putin or Xi either. Give them an inch, and they'll take whatever they think they can get away with.

America is potentially, though not at present, a more reliable partner, for both trade and security, than either Russia or China. Trump needs to be brought to heel in order to keep America on board with respect for international law. At present, Trump is lawless and turning America into a rogue state. It would be relatively easy for the EU to bring him, and his minders, to their senses, but it would require iron-clan resolve and an absolute refusal of individual states to try to reach separate agreements or 'deals' with Trump personally. If the entire EU block did the following:

1. slap a 1500% tariff on all U.S. products;
2. refuse entry of U.S. naval vessels to all EU ports;
3. slap a $50,000 processing fee on all U.S. persons traveling to or within the Shengen Area;
4. terminate all power, water, garbage and sewerage collection services at U.S. diplomatic and military facilities with the EU;

then, people in Washington D.C. would wake up and realize that antagonzing America's longest-standing and best allies is a really bad idea.

This is another good example of how Trump hatred makes you talk nonsense. Basically a small fry country cannot threaten a giant. It makes more sense to negotiate, and even so negotiations may not go exactly your way.

The US economy is more than 150% of the EU countries, based on 2024 GDP. The US buys more from the EU than what the EU buys from the US. If there is that ridiculous import duty, trade will certainly fall to almost zero. Militarily there is no comparison, especially if Israel is on the side of the US, which they certainly will be. EU has no allies. The rest of your suggestions are nonsense.

Trumps idea of taking control of Greenland is better for both NATO and for North America. A wise negotiating team will get the US to use Greenland for security purposes [which appears to be his concern], and still allow Denmark to retain control politically of the island. Trump haters like you should stay far from that team.

I can get onboard with that actually.

Denmark long ago granted the U.S. military pemission to have bases there. There is no point in America owning Greenland, and the Greenlanders don't want to be owned by Trump. America can no more buy Greenland than Saudi Arabia can buy California just because SMB fancies playing tennis on the beach in December. The days when the country could buy Alaska from the Czar are long gone.

PS I do not hate Trump. I despise him. That is different.

@shavixmir
mmmm... the French who had 200k men and quit in a few weeks in ww2.

the swedes who sat out the war and made money selling ore to the Germans in ww2.

the italians who were part of the axis in ww2.

the irish who did nothing at all in ww2.

the Spanish who did nothing in ww2.

the Dutch who turned in al the Jews they could find in ww2.

etc...

and can you just imagine the cat fight between the french and the Germans as to who would lead this eu army ?
