@AThousandYoung saidAmerica bought several blocks of land, in times past. Those times are gone.
The USA did buy California…
@moonbus
the us did not buy California. the bear flag revolt started with attack on the customs house at Sonoma and the bear flaggers
then marched south taking more towns. the Mexican army gave up north of San Diego.
the us purchased french land ( louisiana purhase ) mexican land ( the Gadsden purchase ) russian land ( Alaska ) and negotiated with the British for a line drawn between Washington state, etc seq and Canada and paid Mexico 15 million after the war with Mexico for most of the west.

@moonbus saidThe US basically owns NATO. If any individual European nation or Canada drops out of NATO it continues undisturbed. If the US drops out, NATO is done.
Denmark long ago granted the U.S. military pemission to have bases there. There is no point in America owning Greenland, and the Greenlanders don't want to be owned by Trump. America can no more buy Greenland than Saudi Arabia can buy California just because SMB fancies playing tennis on the beach in December. The days when the country could buy Alaska from the Czar are long gone.
PS I do not hate Trump. I despise him. That is different.
As for indigenous Greenlanders, if I were one, I would rather be under the US as a state or overseas territory. In any part of the world wherever the US has a presence, the natives all live higher standards of living. Eg
- the most prosperous Pacific island group - Hawaii
- the most prosperous Caribbean island - Puerto Rico
- of the 2 Virgin Islands - British and US. - US Virgin Islands is more prosperous.
- nations that aligns themselves with the US are more prosperous than nations which do not.
Again your personal feelings about Trump is your problem, and not a matter of international concern.
@the-grifter saidI did not say that the U.S. bought California--someone else said that. What I said was that the U.S. had bought other blocks of land, without specifying which ones.

There was a time when a ship's captain planted a flag on the beach of a continent and claimed the entire continent for his monarch. Those days are gone. We don't recognize such things as legitimate any more.
@Rajk999 saidHave you listened to any Greenlanders?

@Rajk999 saidBut you're not one, hey? Your personal feelings are meaningless.

How about listening to the overwhelming majority of Greenlanders who have no interest in becoming part of the US?

@the-grifter saidThose illegal immigrant criminals had nothing to do with how the USA purchased the Mexican Cession (including Alta California). Nobody asked the Anglo-American “California Republic” to sign the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.

Cavalry from Los Angeles was killing US infantry in December 1846 so IDK what you are referring to by Mexico giving up at San Diego.
@Sleepyguy saidLol.. Money is money !!

Note to Trump : Buy Greenland.
$100,000 each in greenbacks will more than do the trick.
@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidSounds like they dont want to be under Denmark either.
Greenlanders have repeatedly expressed their refusal to be part of the US, with 85% of the population rejecting the idea.

They want independence.

@AThousandYoung saidNobody asked the Apaches or the Aleuts or the Sioux or the Aztecs either, for that matter.
