That is the line promoted by the left for decades, to discredit US businesses. But people in these parts of the world through experience now know the truth. Here is a bit of truth:
This persistent narrative that the US is some angelic being that selflessly does and does and does for the world, getting nothing in return, simply has no basis in fact,
Venezuela :
- The richest South American country and 3rd richest in the world under capitalism, run and operated by US and European multinational corporations.
- In comes Chavez and his version of socialism - FAILURE. He stole assets from the foreign companies, and everything went into the ground. He was assisted by the Russians and Chinese. These were the thieves. They used Venezuelans assets and gave back nothing except poverty and starvation.
Cuba - Same thing. Prosperity under the US. Communism took over in 1959 - FAILURE. Russia assisted with development = Mass poverty.
Many African countries - swapped US assistance for Chinese, and they have regretted doing so.
The US are not angels. They are business people. They are productive and they get things done. Smart 3rd world countries are now wise to how to utilize them through taxation, royalties and other means.
The US is not dying at all. They are now getting started. They are eliminating the evil forces from the west eg dictators, socialism, drug cartels. This is a blessing for many nations, but not all have the foresight to understand how good life is going to get in 10 years time.

Everything all superpowers do is motiviated by money, power and markets.
@Soothfast saidThe US gives aid to the tune of US$75 Billion to countries all over the world. These are not loans and neither is there any benefit. Some of these countries hate the US, and it is only in 2025 some of this aid was cancelled or reduced.
Right. Now your job is to jibe that observation with your former narrative that the US gets nothing in return for its foreign aid except "Hatred for, and death to Americans," which you appear to be using to justify Trump administration policies.
Of course, US companies operating in another country are there to make a profit, like any one else.
