Why is knife crime on the rise in the UK?

Why do people sign up to mad-hatter groups and ideologiea like ISIS or the MAGA movement? Or extreme right fascist groups?

Why do people join LA gangs?

It’s not migrants. It’s not Jews. It’s not Islam.
These are merely conducters; a simplified “solution” to a complicated problem.

The immigaration needs to be stopped!
Brexit will solve our problems!
The Irish are dangerous!
The Catholics are the problem!
The Afro-Carribbean folk are destroying our society!
It’s the punk movement’s fault!
The hippies!
The gays!

It’s always an “external” factor which can be used to shift focus from the real problem. It’s simpler to motivate and group around.
And it never solves anything.
It’s a spiral thought, because it’s ignoring the real problems. It’s blaming someone, anyone, and it’s comforting to know that if you could just stop “that group” that things will get better.

Yet it never does. And unless the real problems are addressed, it never will.

Yep, American politics used to call these "lightening rod issues".

Uh.. you do know which city I work in and that I used to work on refugee camps?

The problem is not immigration, Jews, gays, etc. these are conducters, an easy solution… you could even, to a certain extent, say they are symptoms of underlying causes.

You focus on that, you go down a rabbit hole and you’ll never have a solution.
Do you seriously think if migration stopped tomorrow, knife crime will go down? The housing problem will be solved? There will be more docters and nurses?

Seriously. You should, and probably do, know better.

Exactly.
It’s what the right always does. And never do they solve any problems.

If these stabbings are so "migrant" related, how come other countries with even higher migrant percentages have far less stabbings?

The underlying issues are there. They are not hard to see.

I am not against any country imposing what they feel are safe limits on migration, especially asylum seekers. To me that's just common sense. Every nation has limited resources and no country can just accept everyone that tries to enter.

The issue is when people on this site or in the UK single out non-white immigrants despite most migrant crime being from whites. There are no riots against Roman or Polish criminals even though those are the two largest sources of migrant crime. When a Welsh-born Christian stabbed young girls riots erupted because people thought the attacker was a foreign-born Muslim.

Every country should have a plan for how to care asylum seekers, include what number they can reasonably handle. Asylum seekers are understandably desperate people and potential bring problems as a result. Such people need counseling and specific types of aid. Every country should gradually let refugees enter in an orderly manner keeping with what they can reasonably handle.

I agree that if you try to save everyone, you can help no one.

The larger problem is poverty and a lack of perspective.

And constantly blaming everyone else, whoever else, doesn't solve the underlying issues. So, you stop immigration... then it will be gays. Or the Irish. Or 3rd generatrion Indians. Or the Catholics. Or labour supporters. Etc. ad infinitum.

I agree completely.

I hope my post didn't come across as anti-migration or against refugees. Such debates devolve to accepting all migrants no matter what or banning them all. Both are wrong.

Whether immigrants coming to the UK or US, refugees must be accepted in an orderly, planned out manner. If not, this is how you end up with children living in cages, which first started out under Obama.

Good intentions like helping refugees must come with planned solutions, which may mean starting out with small numbers of refugees until a working system is in place that allows for more.
