Of course Donald Rumsfeld has not resigned. That would have been a disaster for the Bush government. Another good reason could be that resignation would have made the office of the Secretary of Defense much more vulnerable to scandals such as we are seeing now. It would encourage activists to create scandals to try and force the Secretary of State and other government officials up to the office of the Presidency of the United States to resign. The manipulators from the right or the left would rule the country instead of the people.

Those people calling for his resignation, were they asking this within the framework of winning the war against terror or were they asking this because they are political opponents of the Secretary of Defense or what ?

Would the resignation of the Secretary of Defense have been in the interests of his political opponents or would it have been in the countries interests ?

Besides that, the Islamists would have looked upon his resignation as a victory for their side, wouldn't they ?

What do you think ?

I think Rumsfield should have acted quickly when he first knew, back In January, he faced a scandal which would rock public opinion and set back the whole invasion. He should have given his men one week to find the wrongdoers and report back to him. And he should have immediately taken this report in to his President as the man he let down, taken responsibility for the actions of those who reported to him and offered his resignation.

The resignation could not have been accepted under these circumstances. Resignations are not about what those who report to you did - it is about what you have done to create the culture, how you have dealt with it once you knew about it and how your actions have undermined the goals of the government you serve.

Yes, he should resign. As should have Janet Reno after Waco. And I don't think taking responsibility for damaging the cause of your government and for taking the lives of its citizens weakens the office of cabinet minister or provides victories for your opponents.

He did. He gave a 30 minute briefing, describing in detail the events that were "under investigation". Jan 22, 2004 CSPAN.

This is my question to you all. I recognized it for what it was. A terrible betrayal of all we are fighting for. So did Rummy. Did you?

Did you watch it? Why not? Did you think about it? Why not?

Our world demands action of mind bent on WORDS! Pictures are not always available. If you rely on pictures for truth... commies will win. They can shoot very good pictures. Only WORDS in the form of history can show them as the empty promise that they HAVE PROVEN TO BE.

Is not a picture worth one-thousand words?? 😉

I agree. All you can gain through pictures is experience and observation. Words convey ideas. Words can lie, but pictures can be meaningless. Show me a picture of freedom, that says freedom to everyone that sees it. One person's picture of love is another's picture of pornography.

Blows my theory. If Bush was fully briefed in Jnauary, Rumsfield is off the hook. So hang in there, Rummy.

That leaves Bush knowing the Geneva convention was being broken. In four months, what did the Commander in Chief of the armed forces do?

Naw, forget it. Let's just court martial a few reservists instead. The laws do not apply to President George W Bush.
