We should Tax the *uck out of fast food to compensate for its many repercussions. Sort of like cigarettes and gas.

Far better to cut taxes and increase spending ... still not sure how that works, but if bush does it, it must be right.

Originally posted by Dave S 21How can it be any cheaper? Go into any grocery store and the cheapest foods are always fruits and vegetables. Here's another insight: if you take all the "healthy" foods and redistribute them to the poor, within a couple of years, the productive people will assert their natural tendencies to be clever, industrious and motivated, and they will wind up with the lion's share again.

If people have not the commonsense to see that this sort of rubbish food (which is no cheaper, and often dearer, than healthy alternatives) is doing them a power of no good. no amount of exhortation will change their feeble minds.

At least by taxing fatty foods you reduce its effect. Better than taxing income.

If the lower orders want to eat rubbish food which reduces their life expectancy then they are merely demonstrating the validity of Darwin's thesis.

Besides, you are right. Only government should decide what people eat. And read. And see on the telly and hear on the radio. Only government should schedule doctors visits and visits to the neighborhood party committee. Only government should be allowed to teach children. If an individual tries this away from the government controlled environment of government controled schools, then that person should be "re-educated" in special camps. We can't have people going against the government.
