We have these busybodies on RHP, they're everywhere.

It does come down to who's property is it, and being a condition of employment. As a member of a brigade back in NZ we wouldn't even consider decorating our lockers. The union is stepping outside it's area.
I thought Libertarianism embraced colorful dynamism but by your description it sounds dull grey and conformist. Bring on the sausage machine.

It looks like bait.

but I'll bite anyway.

Dolt!

It is not for Libertarianism to embrace nor reject "colorful dynanism". That's up to each individual. Those that take comfort in grey, conformist are welcome to it, just don't try to force it on others. As for being a member of a busy brigade being dull, grey, conformist? I would put money on it that you've never been sitting in the hot seat when pulling up to a car versus truck MVA with multiple PT. There's likely to be a bit of red to go with the grey....eh.

Yep the station was tidy, real tidy, and it didn't need anyone to say "Polish your boots." you just did it, and it didn't take anyone to say "Don't put graffiti all over fire service property" you just didn't do it.

Legally an employer can probably tell employees what they may or may not put on their lockers. Those who have said that if the employee does not like it he should leave, do not understand what unions are for. There is always the possibility for negotiation between employees and employers and unions give the employees a stronger position.
The other issue is if the fire department is a public service then surely the true employer is the people and although there may be layers of management in between, the desires of the ultimate owners (the people) should also be taken into account. So if enough American citizens complain the fire department should change its policy.
