@techsouth saidThe difference between you and me is that you think there is porn in elementary school libraries and I don't. School teachers and librarians should be celebrated for their dedication and pride in their jobs, not taken to task because some pinhead parent believes some ridiculous con man over education professionals.
I can envision a productive conversation occurring. It would start something like this...
We all agree that there are some books that children should not have access to without parental approval. Since we obviously won't agree on everything, let's pursue a methodology that will require some compromises and move forward.
But what we have instead is the left st ...[text shortened]... our difficulty. Please forgive me for not ensuring my kids have access "new ideas" the same as you.
When 'cancel culture' starts disrespecting the people charged with educating children, it's time to stop listening to self-serving politicians.
@averagejoe1 saidLook, just because you can't do your own job, doesn't mean that degreed professionals can't do theirs. Those books aren't in elementary school libraries. Let those professionals continue to do their jobs.
Phranny. They are not banning books. Some age restrictions of course, which you cannot disapprove of, like the ones that say I have a strap-on, and I can't wait until your weenye is.....
SO, y'all bore us with the banning posts.
@suzianne said"It is the classic fallacy of our time that a moron run through a university and decorated with a Ph.D. will thereby cease to be a moron."

@suzianne saidThe way I see it, is the difference between you and I is that you think there is one correct opinion and everyone else are idiots. I think that reasonable people can disagree and actually know people who I respect in spite of disagreements.

And I'm pretty sure all "banned" books in Florida are available to be read directly to anyone who wants to purchase them or check them out of a library for adults. That being the case, I don't think DeSantis "conned" anyone, but rather numerous people see the same books and agree with his decision.
@wildgrass saidSee reference to age restrictions in my post.
Ron desantis' office put out a press release saying they had removed 175 books from public schools. You can look it up.
Now remember, you libs, 'liberal' means promoting progressive policies. To smother tender minds with porn, and boys holding hands, is quite progressive, you can look up progressive yourself.
So, sit back with the average 240 yr old American in his easy chair and tell him that the wonderful world of progressivism includes a brand new approval of teaching children everything, everything that we know, when their minds are too undeveloped to absorb it, and which they will thus unfortunately not 'apply' (this new knowledge) properly.
Some people, like suzianne, think this is a great leap forward for USA Society, but some like myself feel that we are treading on dangerous ground.
Which way do you go?
@techsouth saidExactly. The Forum needs to quit the improper use of the word ban.

Many of the books encourage early sex, and some here I am sure think that is cool, handing out the trojans. Some here, like me, cannot imagine being acquainted with people like that. But then, I am skeptical of a man with a pony tail. (No, I don't know one).
@averagejoe1 saidWhat term should then be used when a person or item is prohibited from a certain area by the government?
Exactly. The Forum needs to quit the improper use of the word ban.

Ban seems perfectly reasonable.
@wildgrass saidHeil Hitler.
What term should then be used when a person or item is prohibited from a certain area by the government?
Ban seems perfectly reasonable.
@suzianne saidIs that really a term?
Called so because they hover over their kids constantly, you know, to protect them from being exposed to new ideas and to show them how to be proper snowflakes.
Wow.
I guess it’s better than letting the little brats run rogue, though.
I think.
God knows. Parents are generally damned if they do and damned if they don’t…
@averagejoe1 saidYes. Let’s compare using a gun finger ban in a country with 23.000 gun related murders a year; mass shootings in schools; many people horny about being pro-guns to the Nazis killing 6.000.000 Jews.
Heil Hitler.
Do you ever look in the mirror and contemplate the oxygen you are wasting?
@kevcvs57 saidYou mean the republicans want indoctrination material removed don't you. Like, for example, that there was over 3000 black registered slave owners in the US alone with far far far more in Africa. Thats a no go zone, right. And let's just ignore things like whites abolished slavery way before Africa, not even sure it has been abolished there. And lets just ignore the fact that many civilizations had slavery, not the least of which was Africa, they are the ones that sold their own people to the whiteys. Bet the dems don't want THAT taught, the Dems want blacks as victims, keeps them in the victim state. A lot of bad stuff happened, like evil, but to play pretend that it's all the white mans fault is plain stupid.
Blatant lie from a blatant liar
Who’s taking books from library shelves, who’s saying ‘don’t say gay’, who won’t allow the truth about slavery and the annihilation of the indigenous people of N. America to be taught in schools, the list goes on
The Dems are not about educating, they are about indoctrinating. Saying gay is NOT the problem, DEMANDING that I embrace the concept is. And they are "nothing" about love, that's a fake front, they are about divisiveness, and they are winning, for now at least.
BTW trump is now $3.00 to Biden $2.63. People are waking up to them, about time you guys did. I suspect, hope, he will take the lead soon. And NO, I do not like Trump, but I hate the false love from the democrats.
@averagejoe1 saidJoe, it is not just that they are teaching "Knowlege" too young, they are teaching abstract concepts and lies as facts.

Are you into polkas, by any chance?
@averagejoe1 saidHey, fatuous fart cloud, here's a fun fact for ya: Many of the founding fathers whom you worship sported ponytails. James Madison was the last president with a ponytail.
