@shavixmir saidCA still has Disneyland if anyone needs to get their Disney on without gummint oversight
So Ron De Santos (or whatever his name is) has put Disney under control of a board if right-wing freaks.
But, Disney still has to foot the tax payers bill.
Are republicans still a party of no taxation without representation?
@shavixmir saidWell you cannot expect to head up the republicant party without solid homophobic and racist street cred.

I wonder if they’ll ever figure out that what flies in Florida and the mid west drops like a 💩covered brick in a general election.
@shavixmir saidI believe it is spelled DeSantis. It’s actually nothing to do with Disney, per se. He‘s also putting state-funded universities under his boot heel. He‘s trying to score bonus points for the run-up to the 2024 presidential campaign by being seen to reign in what in FL are perceived as liberal values.

It's a fascinating game of chicken.
Disney is banking on the fact that it's too big for FL to risk losing.
DeSantis is banking on the fact that Disney had so much invested in non-movable assets in FL that it can't move.
Probably, the game gets dragged out until DeSantis leaves office and then fades, but if it escalates quickly, my guess is you'll see Disney announcing a relocation out of Florida... and then cancelling the move later.
@earl-of-trumps saidDo you think they should be responsible for the tax part of the story, when they have no say in the matter?
Disney had it made, They had bestowed on them powers that made them semi-autonomous, like the Vatican, for gawd's sake.
I do not like what DeSantis has done but you know, Disney, don't bite the hand that feeds you, too.
Disney went WOKE. Soon they will go broke.

@earl-of-trumps saidPlease. Disney should have left Florida as soon as DeSantis started giving them grief.

Shoulda moved to NY state, lock, stock and barrel. Leave Florida holding the bag.
They own the StarWars and Marvel IPs. They don't need Florida, DeSantis OR the 'woke warriors'.
@moonbus saidIt would cost Disney Billions (with a B) to re-build Disney World outside of Florida. And it has to be in a warm climate, as it's too expensive to be a seasonal park. They already have a park in SoCal, and Phoenix is too close to Disneyland.
@sh76
Who blinks first loses.
So, where? Alabama? Mississippi? New Orleans? Not after the Six Flags debacle. Southeast Texas (Houson/Galveston area) is probably the only option, but is the politics there going to be any better for them?
Face it, Disney is stuck in Florida.
@vivify saidDeSantis and Disney have been fighting since well before that.

RON DESANTIS IS THREATENING DISNEY WITH REGULATIONS BECAUSE IT SPOKE OUT AGAINST FLORIDA'S ANTI-LBGTQ LAW
This is mere spiteful pettiness from DeSantis.
That was just one salvo in the long-running battle.
@sh76 saidWell, maybe the Savannah, Georgia, area. That might be a good alternative location if Texas doesn't work out.

@sh76 saidBut that was the catalyst for this specific issue between Disney and Florida: rebuking DeSantis' anti-LGBT rhetoric. It was at the point that DeSantis, according to the article, wanted to reverse any benefits Disney was receiving.

They may have been fueding before but this specific issue of using taxes to punish Disney was started because they stood up to Florida's bigotry.
@vivify saidOne man's "rebuking bigotry" is another man's "using its corporate weight to punish the will of the people"
