This is going to be a good topic I think so let's get going with it! I think there should be a basic wage for all footballers, as alot of them earn more money doing adverts and through sponsership.

Supply and Demand. Lots of teams want the best players so they rightfully command a greater earning potential than the one-legged guy with emphysema.

Is that why you are so bitter? I bet the leagues rejected you because of that.

The owners charge such an outrageous price based on what the market will pay and make such large profits why shouldn't the players get a cut. After all their playing careers are very short lived and usually played for free many years before becoming a pro. Why does no one complain about the owners salaries?

Don't be silly. The 1984 Cup Final was won by Everton over Watford 2-0.

EDIT: How in the hell do I know that?

Because you have a sweet spot for Elton John. And you were sharing his pain?

If they were reliant on me footballers would be starving. I have only been to one match in my life and left after 15 minutes bored stiff.

That's fair enough. If they can't entertain Naraguna they should starve.🙄

Why not? Funnily enough I found your type of ignorant heckler at 'Speaker's Corner' Hyde Park (or Tower Hill) more entertaining.

Because, despite your delusions to the contrary, the entire world isn't there for your entertainment.

Just because you don't like football (too many common people, no doubt), doesn't mean the people who play it should be starved.

When I posted this I meant for it to be all football, but put footballers as it fitted in the title space. Just because players dont have that long careers doesnt mean that they cant do something afterwards. Take the wigan chairman for example, he played for Man United in the days they didnt get paid that much, and since then he has made JJB Sports company into a big chain and become chariman of Wigan, sponsering the club with his firm and getting them to the Premiership.
Just one example of course......
