Of course, his lie was to protect Trump; it was to hide his knowledge that Wikileaks had obtained DNC e-mails from the Russians and that these were released to help Trump's election chances:
had he told the truth would he have been revealing a crime? hell NO!
So what if someone - or even someone from WikiLeaks contacted him to
apprise him as to what was to come (2 more dumps). That's not on him or
on Trump.
And as much as it aggravated democrats, WikiLeaks did not commit a crime by
releasing data. Who stole it? No one really knows. Whoever it was committed a
crime by breaking into the DNC mail server.
I'm pretty sure Trump did not do that.
