In fact, we should all be very thankful that men of faith founded America because, had all been liberals or Euro-socialists, they would not have survived that first winter.
Yes, because people in other parts of the world haven't survived hardships in
any way similar to that of your founding fathers. U-hum. 🙄

Terrific -- more Christian bashing. I suggest you all read some history books so you can better appreciate what the founding fathers went through and how they not only survived, but prospered in an inhospitable, frontier wilderness, comforted and inspired only by their great faith. Quite apart from your apparent conflation of the Pilgrim Fathers with the Founding Fathers, I suggest you read a little bit about the Levellers, the Diggers and the Peasants' Revolt before making the very lazy assumption that European socialism is effete.

Not quite. God and His Creation are separate entities in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. You're talking about animism.

God and his Creation are seperate entities. That's it ..... it has nothing to do with open or closedmindedness.

Guess it's the same way with the Church, right? Why linger on the past? Let's do things how we feel we should right now. Gay Bishops!
Women cardinals! "Thou shalt not steal" unless you can give a good reason for it!

The USA has a Constitution, which shows that ignoring our history matters and our purpose for being a nation are not things that are intended to be changed whimsically.

I'm glad you aren't arguing that the US was established as a Christian country but are rather suggesting the nation be hijacked by Christians despite what the country has always been meant to stand for by those who established it - a non-religious nation.

My country was hijacked by Christians, then they took over our fesitivals and claimed they were Christian.

The people who first landed in America were not the Founding Fathers, and indeed were about as incompetent as one could get. They were rescued by the native inhabitants and then went on to slaughter and rob the same people who were so kind to them.

That is a pretty Christian thing to do, based on history I think. GWB has been doing the same thing in Iraq. Have you heard of the massive levels of corruption going on with respect to who gets the money dedicated for the rebuilding of Iraq? It's really bad.

By the way - you're not American, so I am not terribly concerned that you disapprove of our country's root philosophy of governing.

Is the Christian god believed to be omnipresent?

God and His Creation being separate entities does not preclude God being in all things.

Half the settlers died in the first winter because they didn't know how to build adequate shelter. The wilderness became a lot less inhospitable once native Americans had taught the colonists how to farm in American conditions.

Yeah, that great faith of theirs made them survive and prosper all right. 🙄
