In reply to Mat and Peakite above, I believe that Galloway has the lowest attendance at the house of commons of any MP (except one who is terminally ill, or something) and the lowest voting record out of all the MPs who can vote (the speaker cannot, for example).
I know he has a lot of fans but I think he's making a mockery of Parliament. Didn't he oust Oona King? Who I'm sure would have taken her job more seriously than him.
As I think I've said before, I've known Galloway for a long time. I used to be active in his previous Glasgow constituency, and he was one of the reasons I stayed in the labour party for as long as I did.
I thought he had gone a wee bit off the rails recently, but his victory in Bethnel Green was one of the hightlights of the last election, IMO.
However, appearing on this show is just political lunacy.
He's always justified his minimal attendance in the commons by citing his multitude of speaking engagements at anti-war events etc around the country, and this is ok up to a point. However, once you spend a couple of weeks locked away on a game show, that whole arguement is useless.
I really think he's lost the plot completely.

Hmmm....
SIDENOTE: How much did they have to pay to get Dennis Rodman?
Taking three weeks off in the Summer, during parliamentary recess, I might understand, but wasting the taxpayers funds to do this is inexcusable.
It makes my MP (one of the least active MPs) look like Margaret Thatcher!!
I think it might be IMPEACHMENT time.... (my favourite time of year ๐)

Personally, if I had voted for him (we in Northern Ireland don't get to vote for our English masters), I would be outraged that he is wasting his time and efforts on a reality TV gameshow.
in N.Z we had a political person jump in the boxing ring for the 'fight 4 life'...a scheme brought up for the high suicide rate among young people here.he boxed not too bad which i guess helped.who knows if it helped his political career....mabey?
He was a big hit with the Left in the States. Very entertaining, almost a caricature of a politico with the accent, mustache/chin full of spittle and all.
Had a good "debate" with O'Rielly. I thought his nose was going to explode it got so big and red. Hard to understand much of what he said his accent is so thick but, all in all, even if codswallop it was very entertaining.
Give 'em a case of good scotch and send him back. We need more Euro-Culture over here. We're too crude.
Originally posted by RedmikeI support his stance re: the Palestinians and such, but he is an elected representative of the British (and Bethnel) people yet he seems to be using his MP status to provide him with a salary and carry a bit of clout for his overseas interests.

He should choose Parliamentary or international politics.
We pay for him to skive off to Palestine and the BB house.
It's unnacceptable.

he is now getting an audience of which, a sizeable number are non-voters. it could be a way of promoting his views to a largely non-political audience, many of whom dont vote cos they think politicians are much of a muchness.
whether you agree with his views or not, the guy has charisma in abundance.
remember more votes are cast on big brother than in the last 2 british elections.
