Galloway used to be Labour MP for Glasgow Kelvin, and I used to be a member of that Labour Party branch, so I know Galloway reasonably well.
That was a typical performance - he is a phenomenal character, and he is always up for a political fight. He certainly showed them up - did they seriously think he was going roll over? They got both barrels, as he said!
It's characters like Galloway, Livingston, Kilroy-Silk et al that makes British politics bearable.
I'm sure if he had got millions out of Iraqi oil he wouldn't have stood for parliament again.
Surely, he'd have quietly retired from politics and sloped off to a mansion somewhere warm and without any US extradition treaty.

I'd be interested to hear how this was covered in the US.
Was it widely reported?
What did the US media make of Gorgeous George?
I saw full coverage of Galloway's Senate hearing on CNN ...... beautiful show. The guy knows how to adress a public and keep them interested. I don't know about his mustache though ...... ๐

The moustache is an integral part of the 'Gorgeous George' package ... he just wouldn't be the same without it.
He seems to me to be a populist and someone who has rather "vague" friends. He presents himself as a very moral person but his "moustache" tells a different story ......
I was a bit puzzled by the whole circus: love him or hate him, Galloway is the perfect demagogue when he has a crowd to play to, and the Sub-Committee appeared to completely underestimate him by their comportment in the media prior to inviting him. I don't know much about Sen. Norm Coleman, but House Sub-Committees are regarded with some envy over here for their commitment to transparency, so seeing one behave like an ill-prepared McCarthyite kangaroo court was very peculiar.
