The are alot of initials here:

SSP, SWP, SLP:
I presume some S's refer to Scottish but others refer to socialism.
Is socialism still a dirty word for the electorate at large?

Perhaps you would be more succesful if yoou rebranded yourself the Caring Sharing Party. Or even RESPECT!
In this part of the world, socialism isn't a dirty word. We're called the Scottish Socialist Party because that's what we are. We don't hide behind nice, friendly policies with a secret 'real' agenda. You get what it says on the tin, as it where.

If other people want to hide behind acronyms or fluffy names, that's up to them (though the 's' in Respect is supposed to stand for socialism).

Apologies for the jargon overload though.

SSP = Scottish Socialist Party;
SWP = Socialist Workers' Party - now a part of the SSP and Respect;
SLP = Socialist Labour Party - Arthur Scargill's attempt at a left organisation (as diplomatic as I can be)

Thanks for the link, Varg, but it still raises questions, maybe you can clarify: although the fact that he has signed a petition calling for Aziz's release, it then qualifies it by stating that he is objecting not because he believes him to be innocent, but because he has not been formally charged and additionally because he believes that he will not recei ...[text shortened]... ms with Aziz and having met him many times, but that doesn't necessarily make him a Ba'athist.
I'm not sure it makes him guilty of anything except keeping dodgy company and having selective morals.
I'm sure if there was something illegal he would have been convicted.
The frequency with which he heaps praise on Baathists, human rights abusers, war criminals, etc., is worrying.

Yeah I agree. He is certainly not above lying as I have posted elsewhere but as for criminal activity there is evidence to suggest he was set up.

Is George Galloway a bigger liar than George WMD Bush? Or those who accused him on forged evidence?

Website ‘loses’ George Galloway’s words

George Galloway’s statement to the senate committee has been “lost” from the senate website.

According to the site Galloway “did not make a statement” to the committee. This conflicts with the evidence of the live televised statement and the question and answer session the Respect MP for Bethnal Green & Bow gave to the investigations committee.

Then there was the massive press and media coverage from every part of the world, which seems to confirm that the MP did actually appear before the committee.

George Galloway said, “ It seems I’ve been airbrushed from history. Senator Norm Coleman, who in a previous incarnation was a left winger, has clearly learned from Uncle Joe Stalin how to remove troublesome people from the historical record.”

Looking forward to the Hollywood version where Galloway is portrayed as a shady incoherent traitor who is crushed by a handsome Senator who gives a great speech about freedom,democracy and the Amercian way of life.

And most people here will believe the Hollywood version.

Hollywood were going make a film about his life some time last year. Apparantly they had cast Kenny Baker to play george's moustache, but due to delays in the filming of star wars he couldn't get time off so the project was shelved.....
