And in that, there are certain mechanics in place that might be askew to the demands by current situations.
What I’m saying is that I find it quite understandable, from the German perspective, to avoid anything that may be accused of being anti-Jewish.
Even, as this case makes clear, when it takes on absurd forms.
Most Americans would find it surprising that, in several European countries, even questioning the facts of the holocaust can land you in prison.
Germany has surely doubled-down on that and is in partial Nazi mode here, attacking people for having a valid belief and talking about it.
The government of Germany nor any other should ever have such powers as to monitor and punish people's "thoughts". And this is a shining example as to why I am a Libertarian that wants small government and citizenry that control government. What crap is this - thought Nazis???

Well, #1, I am not saying "deny the holocaust", but the figures proposed do not add up. 6 million has to do with some Talmud reference. And it is believed that when 6 million jews are killed, then god will reopen Israel for the jews - or something like that. So the message of 6 million jews killed was really intended for euro-jews (Ashkenazi) to hear and decide to go to Palestine, as it would soon be Israel.

The reason why lowering this number is banned in Germany is because it’s extreme right-wing, neo-nazi groups who do so.
And, believe it or not, nobody likes FFing nazis.
They want to deny the holocaust and their first step is questioning the numbers. So, Germany, instead of allowing this slippery slope, just said: NO.
You can think it. You can add the amounts of deaths you tally, etc. You just don’t, in Germany, attempt to argue it didn’t happen.

They start their argument by questioning the numbers.
That’s why it’s illegal in Germany.

And as far as I know his works are available in Germany.
