@no1marauder saidWell, that doesn't exactly make him a bad guy, now, does it.
Poor Joe has never been in a street according to him. 😢
@indonesia-phil saidYes, it's true. We have streets all over the place, especially in towns and cities. You don't even need to look for them, just start walking and before you know it, there will be a street in your path. I'm not kidding, they really are all over the place. And walking across a street to get to the other side of that street... well, it's just a fact of life. You won't get very far unless you're willing to cross streets.

Often times you meet interesting people along the way. Especially in Portland, and in some parts of town people are very friendly and helpful. Like the guys who come up to you and say, "Hey buddy, you want to buy a knife?" And to save time they will have the knife in their hand so you can decide if it's a knife you really want to have.
And one time a homeless man asked me, "Hey Bro, you living on the streets?" I said "No, I stay on the sidewalk." It's true, and for good reason. It's easier to remain alive if I spend as little time as possible in the street. So then he asks, "Are you homeless?", but I thought he said "homely" so I said "Yes, yes I am".
It's not true, I'm actually quite good looking for a man my age. But if someone living on the street thinks I'm homely I see no reason to get into an argument with him.
@lemon-lime saidHeard the Blake guy had a knife. How many here carry a knife? I think it is a culture thing. So, a culture, with which I am familiar, has to be aware of, and deal with, knives of another culture, while I am at home reading the newspaper.

Downer. I guess if I had the job, dealing with knife wielders, I would worry about getting cut (My hands play a guitar), so I wonder how I would react........
I'm thinking Marauder has a feel for this. What say you?
@averagejoe1 saidIt only happened twice, but I knew what the knife guys were doing. My attitude seem to irritate and confuse them, and they didn't know what to make of it because I was supposed to see the knife as a threat.

At that time it was not illegal to have a knife with a six inch or less blade, and it's not illegal for anyone to say, "Do you want to buy a knife?" The idea is if a cop shows up the knife guy claims he's trying to sell his knife. That way the knife guy can just walk away and try intimidating someone else into handing over his money. It seems like a dangerous situation, and it would be late at night when no one else is around, but both times it happened in broad daylight with people all over the place.
Have you ever seen the movie Being There with Peter Sellers? That's who I was being with those knife guys and the homeless dude. ☺

@lemon-lime
We surely don't have total freedom to go where we want all the time, do we.
I know where the bad dudes are in my city. Guess what? I don't go there.
Criminals suck.
@earl-of-trumps saidNo I expect it’s just a coincidence
Well, that doesn't exactly make him a bad guy, now, does it.
@sonhouse saidI will rebuff your egregious assertion on more than one level.
@Earl-of-Trumps
No, just ignorant and hypnotized by a rogue POTUS.
I. Firstly, the drug thugs in this section of the city have been there long before
Trump became POTUS. So blame who, the Clinton's?? Senior Bush??? Reagan???
II. The vast majority of street drug thugs are apolitical, not Republican.
III. Massachusetts is a very blue state. the chances of these street people being
raised in a Democrat family is very high, especially for poor people.
You have demonstrated, once again, your wont to spam with total untruths,
commonly know as propaganda.
Do have a nice day, Lord Hee Haw.
