I disagree. A lot ahs been postulated on Global Warming but I have yet to see catagoric proof. It's no good looking at the climate change over the last few hundred years and saying that this proves global warming because average temperatures are going up - the world has had much wilder swings of iceages and anit-iceages (whatever the reverse is) before man started to have any influence.
I'm not saying that Global Warming isn't happeneing, but I yet have to see anything approaching proof for it.

Global warming has been scientifically proven. Action is necessary now to prevent global catastrophe. Al Gore's movie is a must see. George Bush is wasting precious time doing nothing. More harm is headed our way from global warming than from all the terrorists put together.

Just to balance things out a bit... http://www.envirotruth.org/
Not everyone will like this site, but "truth hurts" sometimes.
pretty much the entire scientific comunity not funded by the oil industry and a good portion of those that are say it is happening. the evidence is there, and every new peice makes the picture look worse. yes there are uncertanties but that means we could be underestimating how bad it will be. recent climat modelling data suggests that without the effect of 'global dimming' we would already have had 2 deg C of warming, the predicted point of no return for greenland to melt. thats a 7 mtr sea leval rise. so you can say good bye to london, new york washington, bangladesh, belgium and countless other places, and thats with the carbon we have allready emmited
the dinosaurs didn't have a worldwide economy or citys on the coast. the temerature back then was indeed high enough that their were no ice caps. if it gets that hot again then we will face a sea leval rise of around 120 mtrs. their are entire countrys below that hight above current sea leval.

2/ You infer that where funding comes from has an effect on the findings. This argument works both ways, how much money would the IPCC get if they said "Nothing to worry about chaps, carry on." Whereas the more alarmist their predictions the more their 'research' empire grows.

Now tell me, what do you think 10 billion will do to it. It be far better to help the starving people in the world. 10 billion will do little to help, let nature take its course.

Actually I feel pretty safe living over a mile above sea level. 😛
the reduction of sunlight reaching the earth caused by sulfides, soot and other polutants. this causes cooling and reduction in evaporation. it is blamed for causeing among other things the 'live aid' drought fammins. and the reduction/failior of the indian monsoon. as we clean up our emmisions however the effect will rapidly disapear as the polutants literally get washed from the atmosphere. it has recently been discovered to be a far greater effect than prevoiusely thought. this means that the measured 0.6 degrees warming we have allready had is only the tip of the iceburg. at no point since the greeks have science academics thought the earth was flat. major missconception there. accurate weather/climate predictions are really valuable whether global warming is happening or not.
there are indeed instances in history where the established veiw was wrong (and allmost certainly will be again) however that isn't a reason to ignor the scientific community, anytime you don't like what they have to say. my point was that if the vast majority of scientists who are experst in the feild beleive man made global warming is a fact and that the effects will be very bad, then it might be a good idea to pay attention and do something about it. rather than stand around saying they might be wrong and we should collect more evidence. our predictions say we don't have time.

Global warming is a fact. The extent to which human activity has affected the warming trend is up for debate.
Of course there is a rather strong argument, and instead of looking at the science, I suggest looking at motives.
Without going into unnecessary detail, we'll separate the debate between stereotypical, political viewpoints - left-wing, right-wing.
What do people have to lose or gain if the left-wing perspective is correct?
What do people have to lose or gain if the right-wing perspective is correct?
Answer these and you have put a large dent in the foundations of this debate.
