Today:
First, a civil union bill becoming law recognising de-facto partnerships regardless of sexual orientation - bitterly opposed by conservatives and the religious right.
Secondly, Achmed Zaoui is bailed, a victory for the legal process.
Thirdly - the last night tonight when smokers can light up in public bars.
And it is Summer, the pohutukawa are in flower, and Christmas holdiays are coming up.
Does it get any better?
