If people would walk 25 miles to get to a moderately sized town, I think they can manage a few steps.

Endless supplies of cake for the starving sub-saharan peoples.

We all know that they should get their just deserts.

very true, but none can also be a preservative, extraction medium or fuel
Wrong again.
Marijuana...

You can preserve things in resin, it's medicinal, no hangovers, you get stoned, it's cheaper per thrill, I'm sure you can use it as fuel (to heat a house maybe. Anyways, if you use enough of it, you'll think it's fuel anyways)...

I have no idea what an extraction medium is, but if you're saying you can extract ghosts with booze (from bottles...god knows), then I'm sure you can do it on dope as well.

but it's not an invention, it's a plant, and whilst alcohol is natural, the processes of brewing and distillation were invented/discovered.

got to admit these days booze is pretty much my only drug and therefore biased!

*as a herbalist alot of my medicines are extracted and preserved with alcohol, the strength depending upon how lipophilic the required constituents are.

Fermentation occurs naturally in nature. We have used artificial selection to increase THC content of marijuana... Come to think of it I'd say artificial selection is the best invention if it weren't for the fact that symbiosis occurs between other organisms.
