I'd actually agree with the agriculture statement, before people were nomadic. With settling down came buildings, culture, etc. Extra food means more time to sit around and think/build things.

I am not saying God doesnt exist, i just think all religions are wrong. They ARE however a very greta achievement and needed, they give rules and order.
Have lost a lot of lives aswel though....
But then, so has the wheel
