Half of Gaza's population is under 18
Of the more than 2 million people living in Gaza, roughly half are under the age of 18. That's according to the United Nations. And that means many of the civilians experiencing these airstrikes now and bracing for an Israeli ground invasion are children.
Those of you who keep blaming Palestine for not overthrowing Hamas fail to realize that half of the population are minors. For comparison, children make up 22 percent of the U.S. population.
Those throwing insults and blame on Palestinians are trashing a population where half are under 18 as if it's their fault they're ruled by terrorists. "Why don't those children fight for their democracy, hmm?"
And when you celebrate the murder of Palestinians, half those being murdered are children. Don't get me wrong: if it were mostly adults being slaughtered en masse like Israel's doing right now, it would still be a horrific war crime. The fact that half are children makes it even more monstrous.

@vivify saidI can give you a long answer but briefly, the responsibility to look after kids, say under 12 is the falls on the shoulders of the authorities, parents and other adults. Teens aged 12 to 18, in Gaza are gun-carrying, grenade-toting, knife-weilding armed terrorists. They are trained by that age to hate and kill Jews. They do not deserve special civilian treatment.

So the parents of under 12 group should evacuate the area, and make provision for their kids. Instead, these people were dancing in the street from the night of Oct 7th up to when the bombs started. Its too late to cry now.
Next time dont start a war [neither show support for those who do], if you cannot handle the blood.

@vivify saidWhat does that have to do with anything? Nobody is blaming the children. The adults are to blame. They overwhelmingly support Hamas and the attack of Oct. 7.

Of course it's sad that children are getting killed. Bad stuff happens in war. That's why you don't start them.

@kevcvs57 said"Islamophobic" is apparently an insult where you are from, because people in your area are what terrorists call "useful idiots". You blindly support them oblivious to what Islam is all about. Down here we are aware of Islamic extremism, and we hate it, we spot it early, and we condemn it without hesitation. I am 'Islamophobic and proud.

@sh76 saidPosters here are blaming a country where half the population are children for not overthrowing their oppressors, and claiming they deserve the ensuing carnage. Anyone who says that is either ignorant of or deliberately overlooking the fact that half of them are children, most of which are *under* 15 yrs old:

The point is that Palestinian citizens, half of which are minors, are being blamed for the carnage when it's a terrorist group that's responsible for stoking violence.
They overwhelmingly support Hamas and the attack of Oct. 7.

In 2022 Palestinians were overwhelmingly *against* Hamas, with only 35 percent showing support. But as the article says:
these divergences reflect the rise in attacks by violent Jewish settlers on Palestinians in the West Bank these divergences reflect the rise in attacks by violent Jewish settlers on Palestinians in the West Bank, which have drawn condemnation from the US and Europe
Most Palestinians did not support Hamas until after Israel started violently evicting them from their homes.
@vivify saidYou are presenting a false scenario that is not relevant to Gaza. Where did you get the idea that Gazans want to overthrow Hamas, or that they should overthrow Hamas?

The truth is that Gazans SUPPORT HAMAS. I have already posted surveys from reputable sources that show Hamas has the full support of over 75% of the adult population.
- Gazans dance in the street when Jews are killed
- Gazans encourage their children to go throw rocks at IDF soldiers
- They send their children to school where they learn the ways of terrorism
- They go to mosque where they pray for strength to kill Jews.
They are the author of their destiny and not victims by any yardstick.
@rajk999 saidPosters like yourself or Moonbus have suggested it's the Palestinian's own fault for being ruled by a terrorist organization.

Are children included in the surveys or just adults? If just adults, as is common with surveys, than it's not "75%" of the population.
Regardless, as I already pointed out, most Palestinians were against Hamas prior to Israel violently removing Palestinians from their homes. Israel is to blame for Hamas' support, not Palestinians.

@vivify saidYes. Sins of the fathers. Ever heard that expression? There is no escaping that fate. In all societies children pay for, or benefit from, what their parents have done. Should IDF soldiers die to keep kids of terrorists alive?
A population where half the citizens are minors are the "author" being murdered by Israel.
Gotcha.
