"Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh says the group has accepted a Gaza ceasefire proposal put forward by Qatari and Egyptian mediators. Israel has yet to officially comment."

"State Department spokesperson Miller declines to provide a timeframe for how long it would take Washington to assess Hamas’s response to the ceasefire proposal, but he says the CIA director is “literally working on this right now”.
‘A huge decision for Israel’
Former Israeli diplomat Alon Liel has spoken to Al Jazeera about the situation Israel’s government and Netanyahu are finding themselves in after Hamas’s announcement.
“There is strong pressure from inside Israel on the government to go to Rafah, so I think the Israeli government faces a dilemma to go with the world or to go with the Israelis, to keep the government or to keep our international contacts,” he said.
“It’s a huge decision for Israel, really huge,” Liel added, noting that even if there is a deal, many people in Israel “will be frightened that we lost the war or that Hamas stays in Gaza”.
He went on to say: “If he [Netanyahu] accepts a deal, it might be the end of his political career. But then if he doesn’t accept a deal, we will have a series of international decisions against us in international courts, in the UN, by different governments, sanctions, recognition of Palestine.
“So I see it as a historic decision for Netanyahu.”

I think Israel will continue their war.
@spruce112358 saidThey wanted Intifadah... now they begging for mercy? Israel should continue with the war until the following happens:

I think Israel will continue their war.
- all hostages are released
- Hamas surrenders
- the underground tunnels are blasted and cleaned up.
- all military installations in hospitals, mosques etc are removed.
Hamas promised to do a repeat of Oct 7th, once the war is over. IDF should keep bombing them. Those animals cannot be trusted.
I can't tell whether Netanyahu is a genius or an idiot.
The timeline was that:
1. The US and Israel basically agreed on a ceasefire deal 2 weeks ago.
2. Hamas hemmed and hawed and stalled for almost 2 weeks.
3. Netanyahu said "screw this; we're out and, oh, by the way, we're going into Rafah tomorrow."
4. Hamas screams "okay, okay, we agree"
If Israel now backs down and agrees, it was bluffing over the weekend and Netanyahu is a genius.
If Israel doesn't back down and agree, it's blowing a chance to strike a broad regional peace deal, and Netanyahu is an idiot.
We'll see.
Israel should accept it has lost the war and agree to whatever face saving measures it can get.
Its seven months of genocidal attacks on Gaza have failed to accomplish any of the stated goals of this one sided "war". Hamas is not and will not be eliminated, few hostages have been rescued (only agreements have led to the great majority of releases) and it is now even more an international pariah than before. It seems exceedingly likely that there will be ICJ arrest warrants issued for Israeli leaders and military figures and while fanatical supporters of the extermination of Palestinians like a few here won't care, it will greatly damage what little prestige these thugs have as well as requiring 124 countries to arrest them if they set foot on that countries' territory:
"And then once the arrest warrants are actually issued, the parties of the Rome Statute - the 124 countries - would be obligated to arrest anyone who is under an arrest warrant if that individual arrived on their territory. In this case, Israel is not a state party. The United States is not a state party. But all of Europe is. All of Latin America is. Most of Africa is, but most of the Middle East and the Arab world is not. "

It would put Netanyahu and his cronies in the same legal position as Putin. Rightly so.
As Kenny Rogers said "you got to know when ..................... to fold 'em".

@Rajk999 saidHamas will definitely move to FPV drones. Since Iron Dome can't hit a paraglider, FPV drones should be quite useful in persuading the Israelis to grant Palestinians full human rights!
Hamas promised to do a repeat of Oct 7th, once the war is over.
They are fantastic against armor, too.
Since the Israelis are sure to continue being stubborn, bigoted fools, I'm sure Hamas is already negotiating contracts for drone delivery.
@spruce112358 saidAnimals dont need, neither deserve human rights. Chances are if Hamas is stupid enough to pull another Oct 7th [I think they are], then the big bombs will come out.

@sh76 saidIf Israel were to agree, how do you think they should respond to the next mass killing of Israelis?

stupid statement
@Mott-The-Hoople saidThe point of security measures is so that doesn't happen, but if it does happen, you have to react in a similar manner to this time, of course.
If Israel were to agree, how do you think they should respond to the next mass killing of Israelis?
@no1marauder saidshould hamas leaders be charged?
"A similar manner" meaning a 7+ month campaign of mass murder and forced famine resulting in arrest warrants being issued by the ICJ?
should they be charged with causing this famine?
should they be charged with using women and children as human shields?
