The next highest donation, sans private giving, is Japan at 13,062million a difference of almost 30 billion dollars. The article pretty much states that NO industrialized nation gives what it should. So give me some figures on other countries' private donations to support your claim or do you just want to continue with your bigoted SPAM?
So the table accounts for $10B of America's foreign aid and America privately gives an additional $34B, bringing the total to $44B, or 4.4 times as much as the figure given in the table.
America still wouldn't make it in to the top 5 countries providing foreign aid (and its even worse when you consider private contributions other countries make).
Happy New Year America !!!
Originally posted by chaswrayAre you claiming that private individuals in other countries give ZERO in donations? That's manifestly absurd. Assuming that private donors merely equal government aid (a low assumption) the US would still be below every other country on the list except Italy in terms of aid dollars as a % of GNP. STANG might be an anti-American nutjob, but the figures show that American aid is consistently and historically lower than other countries. That's an empirical fact; explain it or get over it.

PS: I've also not tried to say that America is number one in foreign aid in any of these posts. That is not my point, so get over it
Originally posted by STANGFirst stang, that is a very unfair statement-the funds are just getting started for crying out loud, totals aren't even in yet! Making such an irresponsible statement like this only days after the tragedy is what your kind does all over the world in order to bash America! The totals will go much higher and well into the year and not just cash-americans are already boarding planes and heading over to help so its not always about money. Even if your statement was true and could be backed up with facts-which it can't im sure-even what we do give is far more than any other country could possbily come close to Stang! Just do the simple math! Im reminded of a biblical lesson where Jesus told a rich man that it was more blessed for an old woman to give god only 1 penny compared to all his wealth because it was all she had! Think about this for a while....In fact, in America, our problem is that we give far too much to other countries when our own country needs so much, but then again, thats one of the things that make our country great! And, by the way Stang, you really miss the point here-we can't really spare the billions of dollars to free Iraqi People but we are doing it anyway-just like an american who has bills to pay at home, working 2 jobs to get by will stop and give a few bucks he doesn't really have to a man who needs a meal-the fact is, most countries in the world could afford to help far more than they do but they choose not to, so why aren't you mentioning that fact? And yet, most countries will benefit from a more stable middle east but once again, America gets the bill! who helped us with the cost of Bosnia? who helped us with the cost of Somalia? Who helped us with the cost of Haiti? Who was first to vote to forgive 80% of Iraqi's world debt?????? Question.....how much have you given to the Tsunami fund? How much has your country given??????? Just curious
America can spare billions of dollars to supposedly "free Iraq" (whilst killing tens of thousands of them) but spares far less than $100M to help the tsunami victims.
America, as one of the richest nations on earth, also gives far less per capita in aid elsewhere.
Happy New Year America !!!
