However, lets take a peek at those who HAVE been caught not living up to the letter of the law, shall we? Nixon, for example, did not live up to the letter of the law. Ok, so perhaps he is the most extreme example, but what actually happened to him? Sure he was forced to resign, big wooo, but other than that, what happened to him? Clinton is another lesser example. He was caught purjuring himself, but what became of it other than a slap on the wrist? In fact, I think he suffered the most at the hands of Hillary.

Apology in action is a good thing and I think it has to come with the verbal apology for the verbal apology to be more meaningful. That's why I think the dept of justice should investigate and prosecute all cases of torture that violated the law no matter who or how high that goes.[/b]
And it all goes back to power and corruption like I've been saying all along. The more powerful you become the more untouchable you become. So are we to continue to throw more power and money at them or change things?
As a relust of my position, you can conclude that holding the likes of "W" and Cheney to the letter of the law will be equally fruitless as has been the previous administrations. Don't get me wrong, it would be entertaining. Of course, not as entertaining as Clinton asking the Congressional members what their definition of "sex" is. LOL.

You are obviously an arrogant and elitist individual. In fact, I think Obama has a cabinet position for you....unless you don't pay your taxes that is. 😛

The problem is that now Cheney is claiming that because Holder is investigating that Obama is politicizing the dept of justice. Now, how is investigating a possible crime politicizing it? Obama's been almost on Cheney's side up to this point also - he's been going on about "looking forward" and all that BS.
I don't see the size of the government being as big of a problem as people not taking the checks and balances that are there as seriously as they should. I also think one major problem is the lobbying that we have so that congressmen and senators are more beholden to corporations than their constituents or their desire to advance the country.
I also don't think the government should be limitless in size, but I think there are some things the government does well and some things it doesn't. I think there are things that it gets into now that it shouldn't and there are things that I think that some more government intervention might be better.

Originally posted by PsychoPawnHow is this politicizing the problem? Simple, it is the same way they politicized Clintons donw fall. You can't convince me that they seriously thought they were going to impeach him, rather, they were just trying to humiliate a popular democrat in the White House. In short, they were ragging on the democrat party to help them in the Republican party for the next election. The same can be said of Obama, although, I don't know to what benefit. After all, Cheney and compnay already have deplorable approval ratings. As a result, I don't see much political upside to them going after them other than pandering to the far left who have been calling for their heads for over 8 years. Perhaps they think that going after an unpopular president will bolster their own approval ratings?

No matter what you think, however, nothing will come of it other than political positioning. Once Cheney and compnay achieved a certain level of power they became untouchable.
