Final results are in and even though i didnt personally truimph, i cannot still believe the SNP won the election.

SNP 47 NEW LABOUR 46.

The last few days have been very exciting, and the SNP have scored their best result in its history.

ITS TIME - TO DELIVER INDEPENDENCE!

What do you think an independent Scotland will mean for the position of the United Kingdom in the European Union ?

What interests me is this - if the Liberal Democrats will only form an alliance with the SNP with the caveat that there is no referendum on independence, what is Alex Salmond's plan B? The problem then is that the SNP governs without the promise of that referendum on the basis of decisions which it makes as a party of the centre-left, which may be good government but is very doubtful politics.

Surely a more accurate statement would be:

ITS TIME - To start licking the bottoms of Lib Dems if we have any chance proper government.

Your election was not a resounding vote for independence, it was a rally against Labour .

It is quite interesting that Salmon's latest call is for a referendum in 2010 - that seems a bit limp under the circumstances, but presumably he's hoping that Dave Cameron is elected to Downing Street so he can artificially boost the "Yes" vote. That's a little underhand, but it does make sense: it feels like the entire UK is in the political twilight just waiting for Cameron and Osborne to come along and wreck the economy and the social fabric for another decade.

It's also interesting that two-thirds of the votes went to pro-union parties, but as in England tribal political loyalties presumably took priority over the independence issue - and why not? Schools and hospitals are more important than nationhood.

This means that this development would enhance the influence of the axe France-Germany within the European Union. Not a situation I'm looking forward to ....

-What would be the benefits for Scotland in case they became an independent country ?

-Would they also have an independent foreign policy ?

-Would they form their own militairy forces ?

Whilst I wish the SNP aspirations well, I fear that the majority of the inhabitants of Scotland are too canny not to realise on which their side their bread is buttered, and will vote to continue to be recipients of English bounty.

Invigorate: "Q3. It would be tiny!"

I guess they will place their trust in the defensive powers of Nato then, and doing so save a lot of money, huh ? Those Scotsmen ...... 🙄

I wonder if this will make the Scottish football team any better?

The division of natural resources will be interesting - North Sea oil is a predominantly Scottish resource, but North Sea gas is predominantly English.

More importantly, would this deal a death blow to any chance of an England entry in the Eurovision Song Contest ever winning? No doubt Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland would give each other their points in true Eurovision style, all giving England nil points 🙁

To the question "is Scotland ready for independence?", the most cogent reply is "probably not but England is".
